I had my surgery on December 3rd, and last I had checked I had lost exactly 35 pounds. I'm worried that I'm eating to much though. I'm typically eating 3 times a day, but sometimes I eat 4 times, but their smaller portions (meaning, three, four bites). I do eat crackers alot, with cheese on them. And if I eat a sandwich or a wrap (I tend to eat more wraps or if I do have a sandwich its on low carb bread) I can usually eat 1/2 of the sandwich, or almost 1/2. I had a plateu already, that ended a couple weeks ago. I had only lost a pound and a half in two weeks, but now since then, Its picked back up. I'm just worried that I'm eating to much. Its hard for me to figure out what to eat also because at my job, I need to bring things that do not need to be microwaved and also do not need to be kept cool. Any suggestions for that? I get hungry sometimes and when I eat I feel full pretty quickly, but the hunger scares me. What if it gets worse and I eat more and more ? I'm really scared now that I'm further along in recovery, I mean, I feel 100% now! I'm just scared that I'm going to gain .... Any suggestions would be appreciated

I had surgery on Dec 1st and I understand how you feel. Just stay on track and you will be fine. As far as lunches go can you take a cooler bag with a ice thing in it. If so try taking a salad with some low fat cheese and turkey in it. It would stay cold along time and be a healthy choice. I am no expert but I don't think your eating too much. I would watch out for the carb intake if anything. I was told protein is always first than if there is room vegies are next and carbs are last on the list. Good luck Kathi

Hi, I had my surgery on 12/06. I am down 35 lbs. I saw my weight loss providers last week and was told I am not eating enough. I was taking in b/w 560-800 calories a day. They want 950-1000 calories a day with a minimum of 50 carbs and at least 80-90 grms of protein. They say that anything less than 950 calories/day is starvation and that I will get sick. I have not had a problem getting the protein in at all cause I have a great tasting protein whey drink, Jay Robb's, vanilla or chocolate. But I am having a problem with the calories and carbs. I found some Atkins protien bars, trail mix, and morning start strawberry that help. I am eating tuna that comes in a pouch, lite mayo, meats, and now getting in some veggies. I eat baby food applesauce, peaches and pears, but do not do well with fresh fruit. I track my daily intake using the free site FitDay.com. This is so helpful as it tracks calories, fat, carbs, and protein. The site does other stuff too. I used it when I was on Weigh****chers last year. I also keep a diary where I write down my vitamins, extra calcium, how I feet, sleep etc., and my blood sugars. I try not to graze, but put aside certain times to eat. I keep a jug (32oz) at home and at work and drink from that all day and night. The more water I drink the better I feel all around. Each day brings new insights into what I can eat and how much. I use my palm as a guide to amounts and that does work for me. Using that as a guide has proven true cause as I eat and my pouch fills up I can tell that enough is enough and it almost equals what is on my plate. I went out and brought 4 lovely desert plates, just for my food. That way I have a really pretty setting in just the right size for my new needs. I find that sweet potatoes are really good and digestable. If I eat beef, I cut the pieces small and chew chew chew. Also found that Tyson's Chicken tenders are great. These come in a huge bag, flash frozen, no bones and no skin. I get them at Costco's. Two tenders = 27 grm protein. I cook them up really quick in the oven or on the grill. I did not mean for this to be so long, just wanted to pass on the tips and things that work for me. Monica

My surgery was on 12/7. I'm having the same concerns as you. Each meal for me is 3-4 oz of protein. Yesterday I managed to consume a raw veggie plate (maybe 1 cup total) in addition to the protein. Day before that I had a plate of spinach salad with sunflower seeds and apple slices, in addition to my protein, only "half" of a normal order but still a goodly sized serving. Two weeks ago, there wasn't room for anything else after the protein. I've not been getting in enough vegetables, so I guess it is OK. I have an appointment week after next with the dietitian, so we'll see what her verdict is. I would feel less concerned if I wasn't 2 weeks into my second plateau since surgery.
