Hi Pam,
I had surgery the same day as you. I went into the surgery weighing 387 pounds, as of this morning I am at 322. It has been a relative easy trip so far. I was sick only one time over the past 7 weeks. Only one puke!!!!!! I have had very few problems, chicken breasts have given me a bit of a problem. Besides that I can eat anything I want. Some days I eat more, some days less. I need to remember that I had major surgery 7 weeks ago. It is tough at times because I feel good, but I stil have some cramping and dull pain. I hope all is going well for you and best of luck.

Hi Pam. I had surgery on 12/06 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield Massachusetts. I am doing very well. I returned to work on 01/03/05 and the first week was hard. But it is good to be back at work. I have lost 35 pounds as of this morning. I have a fabulous weight loss group of doctors, nurses, and nutritionists. I found out I was not eating enough calories and carbs when I went for a check up on Tuesday last week. I have to eat b/w 950 & 1000 calories and at least 50 grams carbs a day. The weight loss group also requires at least 90 grams of protein a day. I have not had a problem reaching the protein limits as I found a super protein powder, Jay Robb's Whey protein drink. When I mix it with skim plus milk I get 34 grams of protein. I also found that Atkins has some really great protein bars and these are good during the day for a meal or snack. I am not exercising much yet. I have extremely bad arthritic knees and these have made walking difficult. However each day I find that I am moving better and getting along at times without my cane. I feel empowered. I am so very happy I had this surgery. At age 57 I sometimes get mad that I did not do this sooner. It took a lot to get my family behind me and to accept that I needed this surgery or I would die. Everyday gets better and I am so glad I took back my life. Good luck.

Hi Pam. I too had surgery on Dec 1st. Please remember that we are all different and will all loose at different rates. With that said I am down 31 pounds and 30 inches from my body. I have gone from a size 24 to a size 16. I work out for 1 hour twice a day and can't wait to see what this next month has in store for me. Good luck and stay positive

Hey Pam! How are you? I'm doing great I lost 18 pounds before surgery and have lost 12 pounds since, so we are right on track. Mine averages -2.4 pounds per week, so that is above goal for lap band. I just got my first fill this last Friday and it has kicked in as of yesterday. I'm having a hard time eating items of substance in the am or pm, but can eat a normal lunch. I can do shakes though, so I have one for breakfast, eat a normal lunch with meat/salad/veggies, then have a little tiny bit of chicken or some protein for dinner and then follow up with a shake as a later snack. I'm keeping in my protein and calorie goals, so doing ok.
I did do measurements and have lost 12.25 inches so far since surgery. This is measuring bust, hips, waist, thigh, and arm.
I'm still very excited and feel that this is the best thing for me. I did have to have my wedding ring resized from an 8 1/2 to a 7 1/2, so something is working

Hi Pam - Sounds like you are doing great. I had open RNY on Dec. 2. I'm feeling better and better all of the time. I've lost 37 lbs so far and I've been able to eat most things. My latest foods are ground beef and salad. I've heard that some people aren't able to tolerate milk but I haven't had any problems with that either. Overall I'm feeling great but need to get in gear and start exercising. My only complaint so far is that I constantly get gas rumbling around in my new tummy (it sounds like a dragon lives inside of me). It sounds weird but I've never been able to make myself burp so I can't "let it out" like most people. Other than that I'm feeling really good.
