Hello! Has anyone felt chest pain as in your food getting caught when you eat? This happens to me and I am not sure why. Could I be eating too fast? Eating too much? I am definitely not eating too much in my opinion. I think I am not eating enough. Thanks! Jenn

Hello Jennifer, I am two and half weeks post op from Gastric Bypass Laporscopic Surgery. I have noticed the same pain too. I think its because I am eating too fast. Since I have slowed down its gotten better. Also if I take too much I get the pain too. I guess we have to be very careful on our intake and the amount of speed we eat now. I hope this was helpful for you. Sincerely Kim C

Hi Jenn! I'm about 6 weeks post-op. Yes, I get this too. Usually it comes when I eat to fast, or don't chew my food long enough. When they say chew 30 times and for it to be like a paste before you swallow, they mean it! Just keep trying. Take care...Rose Monigold

Do you get foaming when that happens? It was happening to me more often before, but I cut back on what I was eating and it's not as bad anymore.

Yes. I think I am eating too fast. Time to slow down!

I haven't had this when eating, but a few hours AFTER eating. It feels like a band is around me, getting tighter and tighter. It lasts for about a half hour. I'm thinking it might be related to acid? I don't get it, but I do plan to ask about it when I go to my doctor's office on Thursday. I'm taking Zantac now since I ran out of Prevacid; maybe that is the problem. Eating too fast is so easy to do! Probably we are all used to gulping down our food! I'm trying to remember to put my spoon/fork DOWN between bites, and take a short break. ~~ Leslie

I am struggling with this pain too. I am 4 weeks out. I thought that maybe I had a stricture, but now I think I am just eating too fast. It's SO hard to slow down, but I think I'm gonna give it a try!!

You need to take a bite, place your fork DOWN, chew then wait about 20 seconds then continue to eat and do the samething each time. You could be eating too fast & you will know if you don't chew enough. Remember to EAT SLOW & CHEW! Hope this helps. ROBIN

I've experienced chest pains when I did not chew my food really well or when I was too full. My nutritionist says that after the surgery we have a new "full" feeling. She says that it feels like pressure in your chest or back.
