The scales aren't moving!!!
I'm scared..it's been a week and the scales haven't moved...what am I doing wrong...I'm still in the soft stage and I'm really scared I'm the one it's not gonna work for...does this happen??? do you have times you don't see the scale move for a week??? what can I do??? Any advice will be so appreciated...Any body had this happen to them??? I'll be 3 weeks post op this Monday. Thanks to all of you...NannaS
Nanna,
The only advise I can give is to be patient. If you continue eating the small amount of food that we are limited to I know the scale will start to go down again.
I have been waiting on my scale to move again for 2 weeks. And I know that I am eating right.
I was told and realize that our bodies need time to adjust to the new weight and that take time.
So just look at the inches that are coming off during your plateu weeks instead of the pounds.

Hi Sharon,
Thank you for your help. I know I get to inpatient and I know it will not come off over night...I really am trying to stick with the diet plan , I have to say I have cheated a little..like having some mashed potatoes and bread but not that much... like today I only had one meal , I was out and couldn't get to my food until I got home...so I did cheat a little as far as the things I'm allowed but I know that I didnt' get in all my calories or as much proteing as I needed..I struggle with the fluid intake but try really hard at that too...Thank you again...I appreciate everyone that is so helpful and encouraging here on this site...your the best support group I can think of...God Bless you..best of luck..NannaS
When I was in the hospital, I gained 20 lbs. from the IV's, and my body was holding the fluids. Try to drink lots of water and walk as much as you are able to walk. It will come, and when it starts, it will go off fast. I had my surgery on Dec. 7th, 2004. I've lost the 20 lbs. that I gained in the hospital plus an additional 29 lbs. It just takes your body a little time to adjust. Hang in there, it will come off! Rose Monigold
I think the soft stage is hard, since you're mainly eating junk food, carbs, etc. I ate so many Soup at Hands! The calories were too high, I know! You might want to focus more on just doing your shakes and water, and track what you are consuming on fitday.com. It can be surprising how things can add up without even noticing it. Once you're on 'real' food, it will be easier, I'm sure.
Also, people at my support group meeting talked about their weight not budging for several weeks on end, and they all emphasized what I have mentioned.

Hi Leslie,
Thank you for your support. It is so helpful to know that others have been through this..I do keep record of all my consumption. I have a list on my fridge and write it down. Sometimes it may be a little difficult to get the exact calorie amount though. My surgeon wants me to stay away from carbs now and I do try...but when the energy level gets down I do cheat. Not much only a couple of tbps of each. I will be starting a support group hopefully next month..they only meet locally once a month (which I think is not enough) . I haven't been to one yet since after my surgery they has only been one meeting. I may try and go back to the drinks and liquid stage if my scales don't move by next week. Thanks again. God Bless you and best of luck. NannaS
Thanks Rebecca,
It helps alot when I hear from those who have been there and also heard this from others. I plan on going to a meeting as soon as I can and I know it will help alot. All of you on this site are just great and your some of the best "support Groups" there is...I feel alot better about things and I'm really trying not to stress out...Thanks again, God Bless you..NannaS
HI Nanna!
Your body ha**** a "set point". No worries. Perhaps upping your protein, or making sure you're getting all your water in, or exercising a little more will make the scale budge. Eventually your body will get out of shock mode (it could think it's being starved) and will give the weight. I've had this happen twice since 12/6/04 surgery, and each time, after about 5-7 days, the scale started moving again. Hang in there!!
Hugs,
Megan
