Multivitamin-Chewable or tablet?
I am 6 weeks post op. (Surgery date 12/2/04) I've been taking a chewable multivitamin since surgery but my doc said it would be ok to switch to a tablet. I bought the Centrum brand which looks like a horse pill. It's about the same size of the pain pills I took after I came home from the hospital so even though I hate taking a pill that size, I know it is doable. I was wondering if most people are taking a chewable or a tablet. If a tablet. Does anyone know of a brand that makes smaller pills?----- Also, a friend of mine had her surgery the same date as I did and out of the same group of surgeons. Her surgeon told her she should stick with the chewable. I'm confused.
I'm using a capsule that I get from the doctor, and it's easy to swallow. Centrum makes a liquid vitamin, too. I bought it but haven't tried it, now that I have the capsule. I hate the taste of the Flintstones! If your pill is huge, I would cut it in half. I do that with my Actigall, just to be on the safe side.

I was told that I would always take a chewable. I had RNY and was told my opening wasn't big enough to handle a tablet. Although my BP med is pretty big.
Do you also take a chewable Calcium? I take Chewable Centrum (orange) which tastes awful, but I follow it with a Chewable Caltrate. It cancels out the flavor of the first one.
I'm 6 weeks post-op too. My doctor told me not to swallow anything bigger than a M&M as that's about the size of the opening going to my new pouch. I use Centrumn chewable. They are orange flavored and taste okay. If you are going to use this big pill, my advise is cut it up smaller so you don't choke on it. Good Luck! Rose Monigold

I had surgery on 12/28/04. My doctor recommended Walgreen's brand vitamin called Gold Seal Multiple Vitamins with iron. These are small enough to swallow individually. I take two every morning without a problem swallowing them. They are a 100 in a bottle for $3.99 or a larger count bottle of 365 for $7.99.
