Has anyone been able to find a GOOD protein drink which isn't too thick and doesn't have a bad after taste? I've tried so many and have been unsuccessful with finding a good one. I've tried Precision Protein (GNC), tasteless Whey Protein, and many others. Thanks! Jenn

I just got this "recipe" from a support group meeting last night. I use the pro complex (GNC). I guess U could use anything that is vanilla flavored. 2 scoops vanilla protein, some plain cinnamon, some Butter Buds and a packet of Slenda. It's supposed to taste like a cinnamon roll. I tried it this morning & this is the first time I got a protein drink down!!!! YEAH ME!!! I also weighed myself this am I'm at 200!!! I've also been told to puree in a banana, mango or peach with the protein. I haven't tried it yet but will. I had my surgery 12/14. Hope this helps. Linda (233,200, ??)

Jennifer I found a drink I love and it has great protein too. I found Jay Robb's Whey protein powders at my local Whole Foods Market. I use the vanilla and chocolate powders and mix one scoop with Smart skim milk or water and they dissolve well, are not thick or chawky. I look forward to them and have one first thing each day. Depending on my protein intake per day (my weight loss providers want 80-90 grams protein each day) I have another in the evening. I was very frustrated finding a drink I could stomach. These work very well for me. Good luck. Monica

Hi Jenn, congratulations on your surgery, wishing you a speedy recovery. Pre-op I tried a lot of proteins and they were plain nasty. I order unjury protein and I love the chocolate. It tastes like you are drinking chocolate milk. You can buy samples to try. The site is unjury.com (just put in www.) Unjury comes in unflavored so you can put it in soups, jellos, puddings and any other foods. The vanilla is pretty good when I make my ultimate protein shake 1 frozen banana 8 oz. 1% or skim milk 2 ice cubes vanilla unjury (which has 20grams of protein per scoop) blend it all in the blender, you can add sweetner to it if you like to make it sweet. Take care. Fran

Hi Jennifer, Are you a Walmart shopper? I think I need to CAMP OUT there! Anyway, in Walmart you can find protein drinks and bars under the brand name Advant Edge. There are other brands there, too, but the Advant Edge shakes are my personal favorite. Thus far, I have found them in Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Cafe Caramel, and Cappucinno. You can get a four pack for about $4.75. It's a little more than I like to spend on them, but they are about middle priced in comparison to other brands there. They are low sugar, low carb, and high in protein (about 15 grams per drink). Have you tried these? Pat

Hi Pat, I haven't tried them yet, but looking at the consensus, I will definitely give them a try! I love Wal-Mart too! Thanks! Jenn

Advant Edge, sold at WalMart in the sporting Good Dept is Awesome, not at all like a protein shake, more like a kids drink!!! Good luck!!! Becky

I too am a Wal-Mart shopper. I have been using the AdvantEdge chocolate powder mix with skim milk. I add just a little bit of SF chocolate syrup (Kroger). MMMMM! I did try the pre-mixed AdvantEdge Dark Chocolate. Ok, if you like chocolate medicine. One other thing I noticed between the powder and the pre-mix was the difference in oz. to protein. The powder is 4 oz. = 20 g. Protein and the premix is 11oz. = 15 g. Protein. I am sticking to the powder. Also I big tub of it lasts me about 3 weeks. It is about $15.00, but worth it. More protein, better taste, and better value.

HI JENN, I AM A FAN OF THE POWDERED WHEY PROTEIN ADVANT EDGE FROM WAL MART. TO ME THE CHOCOLATE TASTES BETTER THAN THE VANILLA. YOU CAN GET IT IN THE 12oz SIZE FOR ABOUT $9.00 OR THE 32oz SIZE FOR ABOUT $14.00. I MIX IT WITH WATER, EQUAL AND A LITTLE CINNAMON. IT TASTES LIKE HOT CHOCOLATE. IF YOU FIND ANY THAT TASTE BETTER THEN PLEASE PASS IT ON. THANKS. GOD BLESS AND GOOD HEALTH...LINDA

I like the Precision Protein from GNC (but NOT their Isopure - yuk!). If you find that the Fruit Punch has an after-taste, try the grape flavor. I also just discovered Myoplex Carb Sense - also from GNC. I've only had the mixed berry, but it reminds me a lot of the PrecPro grape. It comes in 10 oz (22 g protein) bottles, so I think I'm going to switch to it, becuase it's more convenient. My nut just told me on Friday to do the Prec Pro in 2 10 oz servings, and get each one in w/in an hour. I was sipping on the Prec Pro for most of the day; I think her advice is more about upping my fluids than anything to do with the protein.
