One month anniversary - how is everyone doing?
Hi,
Yesterday was my one month anniversary. I have lost 30 pounds and 6.5 inches. (Not such about the inches - the measurements might be a little off but it give me a guideline to go by).
Eating has been going pretty well for me. I've only one time. I have started introducing more foods (moving off the pureed stage as of last Tuesday).
I have been walking since I got home from the hospital. I've also been given clearance to go back to the gym and walk on the treadmill. I have to wait a little while longer before I can start weight training again.
How's everyone doing with their recovery/progress?
Mary
Mary,
I am 2 weeks and 1 day post-op. I feel like my old self. My Dr. told me that I can go to the gym and walk the treadmill. But I have been walking outside at least 30 minutes a day. I am still on the Full Liquid until next Monday then I start Purees. I have not found my self to be hungry in between meals at all. I try and eat at the same times everyday. All I know is that I am very glad that I decided to have this surgery. Since surgery I have lost 15 lbs. And I am proud of myslerf. And my family is proud of me too. Onward to a healthier me!! Good Luck on you WLS journey.

Well, Mary, I had my surgery on Dec 14. I had some complications so I had to have open rny. I went home the Saturday after my Tues surgery and unfortunately, I started to dehydrate almost right away. So I was readmitted that night & didn't get out again til that Tuesday night.
I'm having trouble getting the protein drink down & getting in enough fluid but I'm working on it. Drop me a line when U can.

Linda,
I'm sorry to hear that you had a hard time starting out. I hope things are getting better for you. I agree with you that it is hard to get all the liquids in, I really had to work at it and I am still not where I should be. It sounds like it is really important in your case. Are you on all liquids now?
I noticed on your profile that you are working out. Did your surgeon say it was ok to start weight training? I have to wait a few more weeks. I can't wait to start again - all my muscles are turning to mush.
Mary
Dear Linda,
I have a way to dress up that protein drink so you dont have to "choke" it down
If you have a blender or food processor, take your protein powder and add one bananna, 5 raspberries, and two strawberries and one 'low carb" flavored yogurt. Blend them in the blender and you have the most yummy shake and you cannot even tell that it has protein in it. Remember, this should yield like 2 meals so keep the rest in the fridge.
The protein powder I use is GNC Isopure and that stuff is just plain rude
so I had to get very inventive. Good luck.

Hi Mary and other December winners. I had my surgery on 12/06 and I am doing well. I have dropped 33 pounds. I feel better and I have more energy. My arthritic knees are even better. Today I could walk without my cane, a big happening. I am eating everything, but will stay away from bacon (one bite of a slice and not good), red grapes (one grape and I was doubled over and vomiting). I saw my weight loss group today and they want me to increase my calories to at least 1000 per day and increase my calcium to a minium of 50 grams per day. I found a super protein drink made by Jay Robb at my local Whole Foods Market. It is whey protein and gives me 24 grams of protein per 8 oz glass. I mix it with Smart skim milk or water, it dissolves fast and tastes great. I track everything at the free site, Fitday.com. I have wonderful vitamins. A chewable tablet I take 4 times a day called Optisource. So I am doing what the doctors want and feeling satisfied and very Happy about making the decision to finally take back my life and get healthy. Good luck to all and happy new year.
