Hello, I am an 7 er but I am butting in. Tommorrow will be 5 weeks out. I eat mostly soft food. Went out to eat this weekend Saturday night at Longhorn and ate Grilled Chicken, baked potato with cheese. Only ate half of the potato and 1/4 of the chicken. No bread or Salad not yet. It was nice to get out and about. My energy is not any more than before maby a little bit. I can't wait till it gets more. I have lost 31 lbs. I don't count my water I have never been a person to pay that much attention to that I sip all day. I know bad. I drink allot of Crystal Light. I am soo tired of water. We went to the movies Sat night and had a handful of popcorn. I waited about 1 1/2 hours into the movie and couldn't resist. It was good and told my husband to take it away away away. We left it there. We saw National Treasure it was a great movie. Next. Sharon Simmons

Hi, Bon Bon. I am glad you are feeling better. Let's try to answer your questions. I am still eating mostly soft food. The other day I made some chicken salad and had it with some Wheat Thins. Oh, My God. I think I didn't chew enough. I was in agony. I felt like I swallowed razor blades and my insides were tied in a knot. 2. No, I am not doing my exercise. I walked every day before I went back to work. I get home when it's dark, plus I need to spend some time with my kids. Even this weekend it didn't work out. It's been raining here like crazy for the last 3-4 days. However, I just went out and bought a DVD "Walk away the pounds". Gotta give it a try. No excuses. I am lazy when it comes to exercise. 3. I usually get in about 48-56 oz of water Today I really pushed myself and so far got in 60 oz of water, plus 1 cup of decaf coffee. 4. I feel that I can sleep longer nowadays. 5. I definitely have more energy. 6. Thrilled that I had to go out and buy 2 new pairs of pants, since my old ones were basically falling off me. I've gotten into 2 pairs of shoes that felt too tights and were pinching me on a side and at the in instep. Today, I felt bad because I grazed a little bit. I had a few spoons of my son's Cheerios with whole milk and in the afternoon had picked off some cheese off the pizza and had 2 pieces of salami off the topping. I better cut it out.

I am doing very fine. I have dropped 33 lbs and went back to work last Monday 01/03/05. 1. I can eat almost anything. I drink 2 protein drinks per day to help me achieve the 90 grms my weight loss doctors want. I had problems with a bite of well cooked bacon, 1 red grape (vomited almost immediately), and a slice of ham with a rind. I can eat the ham without the rind and do fine. I fill up fast and remember to chew very well. 2. Not really, my arthritic knees are still painful and they inhibit me from exercising but they are better than before the surgery and for that I am thankful. I try and get up from my desk each hour and walk up and down the halls. 3. I drink a mimium of 64oz a day. I purchased two Nalgene 32 oz containers one for home and one for work. I fill them up and that is what I keep by me all day and at home at night. Never out of reach. 4. I am going to sleep earlier since I went back to work. I am sleeping well, but still don't wake up bright eyes and bushy tail. 5. Yes, I have more energy and I like it. Saturday I made 5 separate stops at 5 different places. This did not happen before surgery. I tried my best not to have to get out of the car and go into stores or browse for anyting. Movement meant pain and shortness of breath. Way to difficult. So I was thrilled that I could do five stores, in and out of the car and shop all in the time of Saturday morning. 6. Much happier. I feel empowered. I know that I have taken back my life with this surgery and the new rules I live by. This is wonderful. Monica

Hey BonBon and all, I am glad you are better these days! Take care! Well, I have no complaints, thank goodness! I am eating soft foods until about Jan 24th or so! Scrambles eggs, cottage cheese, soup, tuna salad, cheese sticks, etc... I started exercising more last week then i had been doing! Last week i walked the treadmill 5 days 35-40 minutes each time and started doing the 20 min PILATES dvd with my teenage daughter. It really helps my back (Spondylolisthesis) and i'm a hoping it will help firm the tummy as to avoid too much extra skin later on! My Doc things it will help too! I am sleeping well when my mind is not otherwise occupied! Physically I feel awesome and have way more energy than I thought i would! I feel very fortunate to have had no problems and because everything has gone awesome (knock on wood!)lol as of today, i have lost 34 pounds!!! wooohooooo! Can't believe it! Time is flying! My six week check up is next week! Take care all, see u next week!! (((HUGS))) COLLEEN

hey. i'm eating regular foods... chew and chew. haven't had any problems as of yet. went to a chinese buffet and ate piece of brocoli (just the head) and about 4-5 pieces of the chicken that comes w/chicken and broc. also (bad) had a couple of sips of regular soda. exercise- no, not really. once in awhile i'll walk around my neighborhood or when i go shopping or take my daughter to the park. once i'm back at work i will cause i'm a member of their gym. am gonna join the "Y" soon. water- about 48-56 oz a day sleeping- very well energy- same as before. i didn't have any health problems when i had this surgery- i was only fat. new me- not showing yet that i can tell. exercise will definitely help. other than a couple pairs of pants being alittle looser- there is not difference. i certainly didn't have to buy new pants yet which is depressing. but hey! i'm alive and well. take care sue

Howdy! Fellow 6-er reporting in. I started back to work half-time on Thursday. For one week I'll be on half days, so full days this Friday. I took 5 weeks off because of my c.diff. compilcation. I'm eating regular foods Exercise consists of walking and lifting my nearly 2 year old I'm getting 50-70oz of water in a day I'm sleeping MUCH better - don't need the Ambien anymore!! I don't have a LOT more energy, but I've been sick, so that's why. I am VERY happy that my new "me" is showing. Took my 5 week pictures tonight. Just AMAZED at the difference. Hugs!! Wow! So glad to find other 6'ERs. I am going to sound stupid, but I assume that means you had your surgery on Dec. 6th. If so, me too! Life is great! Everything is going so well. I've lost 48 pounds. My BMI is down to 55%. I've lost 9 inches in my thigh and 7 in my waist. 1. I started this past week on more solid foods. However that started the nausea. Knock on wood, I haven't thrown up yet. Dr. L said that it was because I am not drinking enough water and to start taking my nausea medicine. Duh! 2. My husband and I started walking together. We can make it down the block in about 20 minutes. We have done it about 4 times this week. I need to start pushing myself further. I am just so tired after work. 3. Not enough. I usually get 48-50 oz. You would think as much as I talk during the day (I am a teacher) that I would be emptying water bottles left and right. I got severally dehydrated 2 weeks post op. It was a wild feeling. I don't care to repeat it, so I try everyday to suck up more H20. 4. Sleeping is getting better now that I can roll on to my sides and stomach. I still get nerve pains in my legs if I stay in one spot too long. Hated sleeping on my back for 4 weeks. I didn't sleep well until I went back to work. 5. Now! 6.Very happy! Once I get to start eating more variety of foods than I will be even happier. Clothes are getting really baggy. I got to wear an old pair of jeans yesterday. They fit so much better than my fat jeans. I was thrilled.
