hi. i had my surgery on 12/6/04 and in reading alot of the other december surgery people, it seems that you are all losing weight alot faster than me. and, i have to admit that i am jealous. i went to the drs yesterday and he told me i lost 27 pounds (even tho he weighed me on a different scale than normal). anyway, i'm drinking as much as i can and trying to get all my protein in. just wanted to let all of you know how great i thimk you all are doing and how jealous i am.... sue

Sue, pleae don't be jealous. I think you are doing fabulous, really!! Tomorrow, you are one month out, and just think!! 27 POUNDS IN A MONTH!! WOW! I should be so lucky! I know I am not going to be losing that much in a month, myself, as I have the same problem with edema that I had for years pre-op. Plus, I go to the doctor in the morning, and I know they will not see much of a weight loss since I am constipated. But YOU...YOU are doing GREAT!! Please don't think any differently! You are to be COMMENDED!! CONGRATULATIONS!! God bless you! Pat

Susan, We are pretty much on the same track. I had my surgery on 12/9 and I am also down 27 pounds. It sounds to me like you are doing great. Mary

Sue. I know how you feel., Tuesday night I looked at a weight loss calculator on this website that said, Ill probablly only lose 78 pounds (down to 184). This is not acceptable to me. I want to be 150!!!! Then yesterday I went to the doc (17 days out) and found out I have only lost 6 pounds. For the first time, Im asking myself is a lousy 78lbs worth it. I know many people who have had great success, but I have that luck streak and feel Im not going to be where I am dreaming of being. So, please dont be jealous of them....some one is jealous of you.....me!!!! Hugs, Becky

lol.... don't be jealous of me. you were only 17 days out. i would be happy at 184 (yeah i guess 150 would be better) but i would be able to live w/184. i'll have to check out this calculator you're talking about because i won't be happy losing only 78 pounds either. lol- at least you'd be under 200- i'll still be in the low 200's. and that would make me pissed off. i'll check it out. keep in touch with your weight loss and i'll have to let you know how much the calculator says i'll lose then you can decide to be jealous or not.... sue

HEY FELLOW 6 ER... I HAD MINE ON THE SIXTH ALSO... WE HAVE TO ALL LOSE AT OUR OWN RATE... REMEMBER THE HEAVIER YO ARE YOU LOSE FASTER.. SO MAYBE THE PEOPLE YOU THINK YOU ARE LOOKING EQUAL AT ... THAT MAY NOT BE SO... BE HAPPY WITH 27LBS THAT IS WONDERFUL BECAUSE THAT 27 WILL NEVER COME BACK... NOT LIKE BEFORE ... SO MY DR SAYS USE PERCENT OF WEIGHT LOST... SO GET OUT THE CACULATOR... AND FIGURE THAT OUT... YOU MIGHT BE AMAZED... HAVE YOU GONE BACK TO DR. I BET HE WAS VERY HAPPY WITH 27LBS. MY DR SAID AT 3 WEEKS THE AVERAGE WEIGHT LOSE IS THAT PERCENT FIGURE BETWEEN 8% AND 12%... SO DO THE MATH AND SEE IF YOU ARE IN THE NORM... HAVE A GREAT DAY... MY FRIEND... AND WATCH FOR THE 6ER REPORT ONCE A WEEK HERE... BONBON

Sue, we share our new "BIRTHDAY" December 6th. I think that you are doing terrrific. I am down 31 pounds and I am pleased. I drink at least 64 oz of H2O daily, take my vitamins and calcium supplement, and try and get in 90 grms of protein daily. I have a great protein drink that helps me achieve the 90 grams that my nutritionist expects, Jay Robb's Whey protein powdered. I also log in my daily intake at fitday.com. By doing this I can keep track easily of my protein, fat, calories, carbs, etc. This is a great free site. I am also keeping a detailed journal. I record my blood sugars, and mark off the vitamins, calcium, and record how I am feeling and sleeping. I have to plan and plan, just like I had to do on other diets I was on. This tool of the surgery can only go so far. We are responsible for making it work. I do sometimes forget that. I have bad arthritic knees. I use a cane and was on some heavy duty pain meds for this. My knee pain is reduced, but I still have problems getting around. This continues to hamper me in getting exercise. I recognize that my weight loss will be dependent on the exercise I do. I must make a better effort on just plain walking and I know that the weight will come off better is I do. Keep up your good work. Do not compare, you are unique. Monica

I know what you mean, but really, we are all so different. I went to a support group meeting (you have GOT to go to these, they are wonderful) and some people had, for instance, lost 75 pounds in one year, others 100, and one 150. SUch a variety of weight losses! But the important thing is that all had lost than ever before in their lives, and do not intend to ever re-gain that weight. Several were at goal (100-180 pounds lost) and still came to meetings, etc.
