Unexplained abdominal pain below left breast...

As of today, I am three weeks post-op, and this pain did not surface until last Wednesday. It began as a sharp pain, like pulling a muscle or something. By Saturday, it had gotten so bad that I put a call into my surgeon. It took a total of two calls to get him paged to call me back, and by then it had eased off. When he did call, I asked if I should go to the ER, and he advised that if there was a fever, nausea, or if the pain got worse to go and at least get a CT Scan. I did this, Sunday...and the CT Scan came back clean. The bottom line is that since it showed nothing, not much can be done. They gave me another prescription for pain meds and nausea pills to place under the tongue should nausea occur. My surgeon told me that he had had some patients complain of such a pain in the same area even if the CT Scan or x-rays showed nothing wrong. So, my question is...has anyone else had such an experience? It is like a sharp knife or large needle being stuck in when I try to rise from a lying or sitting position, or move a certain way suddenly. This is Tuesday, and it has been going on since last Wednesday. How long does this last? The WLS was my eighth surgery in my lifetime, (also four childbirths) but I NEVER remember anything like this. It usually brings me to tears, it hurts so bad. Thursday, I have an appointment to see my surgeon that I made before all this happened, and I am hoping he will check further and tell me it is something that can be corrected. It's not getting any better, and I am tired of hurting. I was progressing fine until this happened. Any comments?

Patricia, I have the same kind of pain only it's under my right breast and the Dr. has said that it's nothing to worry about and it is getting better with time. It is really the only pain that I'm still having and I wi**** would hurry up and get outta here. I hope yours gets better. Hugs, Loni

Did you have it lap or open? I have pain and they said its from the many incisions and stitches it takes to use the camera and close up the entry. I thought it was the drain, but I was told that they have to sometimes cut ligamtents and muscles to get the camera positioned, so it hurts when you move. Feels like my intestines are haning on a thread sometimes when I move.

I have the same pain in the same place. My doctor started me on Nexium and it has gotten a little better. I hurt really bad when I try to eat and have to throw up to relieve the pain if it gets too bad. I've only thrown up three times so far and that's because of this pain and it's the only way for me to feel better. My pain is not always constant anymore but it does hurt especially as I eat.

Patricia, I had this same pain. Mine wasnt so bad though. It went away pretty quickly, maybe 3 weeks post-op. If I overeat a little or try to drink too fast, it returns as a nagging ache. Then I know to slow down or go rest a while. Melody

Hey girl, hope the pain is getting better. i had the same thing happen to me and i went into the er and it is gas or gastreotenitas as they told me. Just plain ole gas. try taking a extra strength chewable and see if that works. i know you hate to here this but walking also helps it too. fell better.
