Diahrrea

My surgery was 12/27/04. Will diahrrea end when we are off the liquid diet? Other than that I am doing super, have lost 9 pounds in 4 days, can't complain, just staying close to a bathroom. Barbara

My diarrhea went to a soft stole when I started eating yogurt and cottage cheese. Donna

Barbara: If the diarrhea is frequent, and watery/runny, you need to call your doctor. You could have a complication from the antibiotics they gave you during surgery called c.diff. I got it right after my surgery, 4 days out to be exact. I ended up needing to be readmitted and pumped full of fluids because the diarrhea dehydrated me. Please don't hesitate. Call your doctor. I had the same thing, and talked to my surgeon about it. Loose stools are normal on a liquid diet and things will solidify when you start eating food. My GI system reflected the change to food the same day! Congratulations, and hang in there. Maureen

Loose in, Loose out! It does go away once you start adding in more 'solid' things. Now that I've introduced mush into my diet, it's nearly normal... Just keep those wet wipes handy and you'll avoid making yourself to raw in the tushy area... Jen

Hi there I too had surgery on 12-27-04 and yes I have the same problem. I assume that once we introduce more solid foods into our diet that will go away. On top of that I started my menstrual cycle yesterday so things aren't so great in that area But since the 22nd, I am down 12 lbs, I have my first follow up appt on Monday 1-3 and they take my staples out.
