4 weeks post op - Should I be feeling better than this?
I had RNY on 12/2/04. I've lost 30 lbs. so far. For the last 2-3 days I've been feeling sick to my stomach. I'm still drinking but food does not sound good at all. I'm having a hard time getting my protein in because the protein drinks make me feel sick to my stomach. I can't get the taste out of my mouth after drinking one. I wake up in the morning and feel like I can still taste it (like the fumes are comming up my throat). Also, my stomach muscles are still feeling really tender. Is this normal? One last question, i have trouble with air in my new tummy. Normally a person would just burp and feel better. I haven't ever been able to make my self burp so I can't relieve the pain. It gets so built up that people 5 feet away from me can hear the air moving around in my new tummy. I've tried gas-x and some other over the counter things. They don't seem to help. Any suggestions?
Well I'm still on the full liquids stage, but I've just discovered heaven!! It was in the binder of recipies... it's called "Verry Berry" it's like a smoothie... but it's so good! (and I'm picky)
This is the recipe!
1/2 cup skim milk
5 strawberries frozen (no added sugar)
1/4 cup of rasberries frozen (no added sugar)
1/4 cup vanilla yougurt no added sugar
2 scoops of whey protein, natural whey proten (I used vanilla)
I put it in my magic bullet blender (thanks Judy it was a great investment) 45 seconds. (and I had to strain it through a mesh strainer cause I'm still a full liquid)
It has dun dun dun
340 calories
45 grams of protein
3 grams of fat
Hope that will help get the protein in...
As for the gas... try drinking and eating slower.. maybe that is causing the build up... there is no worse pain than gas... sorry wish there was something more I could suggest
Since my surgury on 12/10/2004, I have been taking Zantac once a day. This was prescribed by my surgeon. It's amazing, I can tell when it's time to take it because I can feel the gas start to accumulate in my chest. I take it at 4:00 p.m. Sometimes I start to feel bad and I'll look at the clock and it's 4:30. I'll take the Zantac and within 30 minutes I feel the relief from the gas.
You may want to ask your doctor for some sort of gas reliever.
