I must share this because it is sooo much better than those nasty protein shakes. Even if you aren't too fond of chicken you might like this. I wasn't and I do. You will need: a cake pan, boneless skinless chicken breast( I use Kroger frozen boneless skinless chicken breast), Lawry marinade of your choice (Not very expensive at Kroger)(I recomend the lemon and herb or the louisianna red pepper) 1) Pre heat your oven to 375 degrees 2) Cut out all of the fat and cube the good part of your chicken 3) Pour some marinade in the bottom of the cake pan( I put foil and non stick spray in the cake pan) 4) put your chicken in the cake pan and make sure that every part of the chicken gets marinaded. 5) Cook for 18 min ( This is for 1-2 pieces of the frozen chicken) 6) After it is done take it out and pureed it in the blender and put it in the refrigerater if you aren't ready to eat yet. It tastes great reheated. There are 7 grams of protein in chicken per oz. Make this your 4 protein meals and you have the protein you need. Best of all it tastes GREAT. This is just something quick and simple to make. I am on 2 oz per meal still and pureed so it is my 4 middle meals. Then I have oatmeal for breakfast and for my last meal I have some type of yogurt desert. Last night was key lime pie.. This is sooo much easier than I thought it would be. My first few days I couldn't figure out what to eat and didn't like what I was finding.. Good eating... Michelle

Michelle, This sounds great but I do have a question for you. So this is just all pureed up not in a liquid form? I get sick everytime I drink a protein shake and really need to find something else to do. Tomorrow I will be 2 weeks out. Loni

Have you played around with different protein powders? The one that my surgeon sent home with me was NASTY! I played around some and found a protein that I love and really agrees with me. Mine is ProSource100 Chocolate. I like the vanilla too...but I love the chocolate. The chicken soup sounds nice...too bad I'm still on clear liquids (pouts) Jen

First I must correct something. It isn't chicken soup. Not even close. I am on pureed foods and have been since I left the hospital. There is no reason for me to even try different protien drinks since the chicken is 7 grams per oz. I get all of my protein with 4 of my meals being chicken. When a lot of people think of pureed they think of runny mushy nasty looking stuff.. I did. Not anymore. Your blender has a pureed button. That is what I used on the chicken. I don't make the chicken "soupy" or "mushy" or anything of the sort. It's basically like it is already chewed for me down to small and I do mean small pieces of chicken but with a lot of flavor left. It is still good and better than any protein shake that people may feel is good. If I don't like the taste of something I can't eat/drink it without getting sick to my stomach so I won't do it. I went into and past the liquid faze in the hospital. I'm glad I chose the doctor I did because I am sooooo glad he moves to pureed as soon as he does. Anywho, if anyone feels they really want to try the recipe run it by your doctor if you aren't sure you are ready for it. I already have and the nurses are the ones that told me oh that sounds great. As long as it isn't making me sick then that is wonderful..(That's what I thought when I made it too...lol) Well have a wonderful New Year everyone.. Michelle

I think you misunderstood my response... My reply sits under Loni because my protein comments were directed to Loni and I refered to your chicken recipe as soup because I really wasn't sure what else to call it, but knew it sounded good! I'll be giving it a try as soon as I'm released from the liquids to purees... Take care and happy losing! Jen

Lonni, Hi, this is another Michelle (not the originator). My diet instructions say...anything that will go thru a straw (but not to use the straw). So my guess is that if you could puree the chicken like she said...add more marinade or salsa...something that'll make it thinner. Also, try blending your vanilla or unflavored protein powder with your favorite juice and ice for a refreshing smoothie! 6 oz juice and a handful of ice. Add unflavored protein powder to any yogurt too. Michelle P.
