How much are we suppose to be able to eat at one time?
I'm five days post op and today I feel great. No more pouch swelling. My new pouch feels great. I don't feel hungry but I'm eating anyway just like the Dr. says. but how much is too much. It took me an hour to drink an 8 oz protein shake and then at the next meal it only took 20 minutes to eat a whole sf pudding thing. Isn't that too much? I was hoping I would feel full but I don't. I stopped. The next meal was tomato soup about 1 cup full in about an hour. Does this all sound about right? I called my dr.'s office and they didn't say anything. They just wanted me to take my vitamins which I haven't been, my paper says wait till 6 weeks after surgery, and they said that was a misunderstanding. So today I started taking them.

Hi Christina, I am 7 days out (12/20) and am still on liquids until tomorrow. I think you are doing great. I am being told that at this point liquids are the most important thing to keep hydrated. I am taking 2 mult vites a day, plus a calcium supplement and a B12. They are important for muscle mass and to avoid hair loss. I am only able to take in about less than 1/2 cup of soup total at each sitting, but I am also doing the protein shake thing which is most of my nourishment each day. I found a 35 g one with low carbs, and fat and I am getting used to the taste. I haven't been able to do puddings yet. Just liquids and jell-o for me until tomorrow. I am also, like you, not hungry and I feel satisfied after each sitting. I am also sip-sip-sipping water all day. I hope this helps to see how someone close to your date is adjusting. Good Luck!
Sounds like you are doing just fine! Somedays you will feel hungrier than others. I still encounter that even at almost a year out. Just make sure you take your vitamins. It's normal to lose hair between 3 and 6 months but if you take your vitamins now, it will keep that hair loss to a minimum for you. (hopefully) Mine is growing back but I lost handfulls. It was awful! Then I wished I would have taken my vitamins more faithfully like I was supposed to!
The place I had my surgery had a dietician that was wonderful. She was so good about emailing me back or even calling me. Ask about that. Bet your surgeon has a dietician he uses too.
Protein shakes will help fill you and are great for you. So try to get in a couple of those a day.
Good luck in your journey!
