Well here I am 3 days left to go, my surgery date is 12-27-04 at Elmbrook Memorial with Dr Engstrand. I am ready but very anxious and nervous. Tomorrow I start the clear liquid diet Yes on Christmas That's okay though I figure I have had enough Christmas feasts to last me a lifetime. I have to say that it will be challenging to sit there while everyone eats and I drink my water and down some Chicken broth mmmm mmmmm. Wish me luck and drop me a line. I would love to hear more from anyone who has been through this or who is going thru this as we speak. I have had a difficult time finding a decent protein drink but I can manage the one I have for now. Any thoughts on that would be greatly appreciated. Merry Christmas to all. I will check in again when I get home

Best of luck to you Erin! Drinking your X-mas meal is no fun, but think of how great you are going to feel this time next year! As far as protein drinks...I love the unjury unflavored and chocolate powders. You get them online at www.unjury.com. You can order a sample pack for around $5 and you get one unflavored, one chocolate and one vanilla. They arrive really fast. You get 20 gr of protein in 1 scoop. The chocolate mixed in skim milk and warmed on the stove makes a super yummy hot chocolate. I put the unflavored in my SF Carnation Instant Breakfast, soups, puddings, yogurts, oatmeal, applesauce, etc. It mixes really well as long as you put it in cold, then heat up the food. I also got some Zero Carb Isopure drinks from GNC. They are 20oz bottles of clear liquid that tastes like unflavored kool-aid. You get 40 gr of protein in 1 drink! I liked the orange and grape the best. Have a good holiday! Can't wait to hear how everything goes. Pam

Thank you sooooo much Pam. My dietician said I need a better balance of carbs and protein so unjury is out I did love the taste of it though. I think I will bring my samples to the hospital and ask the Dietician again. Happy holidays to you too! When was your surgery?

HI ERIN, MY SURGERY IS IN 3 DAYS TOO AND I'M STILL MORE TERRIFIED THAN ANYTHING ELSE. I'M TRYING TO GET MY HEAD AROUND THIS WHOLE THING SO, I DON'T PASS OUT ON THE WAY TO THE HOSPITAL. I'VE WANTED THIS FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS AND NOW THAT IT'S HERE I'M NOT TOO SURE. WELL, I WISH A VERY SPEEDY RECOVERY. TAKE CARE AND BE BLESSED. YVETTE

I am almost a year post op and I still use some protein shakes. I tried lots but one that I could handle pretty well is from GNC--comes in a 3 lb jug--100% whey protein--chocolate--it has 20 grams of protein in a serving and you can add it to water and it is NEVER chunky! It mixes so awesome! Hope this is helpful! Good luck! oh--and when you are able to start eating protein bars---the low carb Snicker Marathon bars are the best! I love them! I also buy detour, and uturn, (from walmart)--they are tolerable. Email me if you ever have any questions! Good luck for a very uneventful surgery! Char
