9 days post op. It gets better day by day.
I am 9 days post op. I have lost 15 pounds. I am relearning how to eat and appreciate "the fluids." I discovered the "new odor" and quickly ordered some Devrom pills. My enery level has been so, so. I walk two times a day. I have been eating smoothies, gatorade, propel water, broths and clear soups. I have dealt with gas pressure but I haven't experienced any nausea at all. I try to take my time and sip my fluids slowly. My "Fe Fe" the name I have given to my pouch is small and sensitive. I am learning her and listening to her. Does anyone have chapped or parched lips? I have a fever blister since surgery and I think this is directly related to my liquid intake. I am trying to drink at least 64oz of liquids every day - this has been my struggle.
Stay positive and thank God for this wonderful gift of surgery.
Hi, Kimberly! Glad to hear you're doing well. I am not entirely successful at drinking every last drop. I get much water, tea, broth, etc. and I am peeing quite a bit-and it's a good light color. This is how I guage myself. The surgeon put me on soft foods yesterday at my one-week checkup. It is harder to get in the fluids when I must wait a while after eating to have a drink.
Well, dear, hang in there and keep in touch.
Hugs, Linda
Hello Barbara,
The odor that I speak about is related to the new way your digestive tract will perform hence stimulating an new odor attributed to your fecal matter. The Devrom pills help to control that and serves an an internal body deodorant. Most people I know only have to take them with each meal for a couple of months until its no longer an issue. Devrom pills are quite inexpensive
$9.85 for 100 capsules and $5 for shipping and handling. The information to order it is :

My doctor's office gave me a sample. And I ordered some earlier this week. I take great pride in the way I look and smile. So this was very important to me. I hope this helps!

I am 18 days post-op, and very happy with my progress. At my 1 week check-up I lost 21 lbs. I am on soft foods, I had trouble drinking the boost and ensure. I am also having trouble drinking the 64 ozs. of fluid we are supposed to, but I am trying. Please explain to me about the 'new odor' because I never heard of that before.
