pillow wedge to sleep?
Kayte,
Getting comfortable at home has been something I've struggled with. Like you, we do not have a recliner and I sure wish we did. All that being said, a pillow wedge is probably not a bad idea. I have been propping up a couple of pillows and it works fairly well for me. I haven't gotten brave enough to try sleeping flat yet.
Good luck with your surgery.
Mary
Hi Kayte!
I actually went out and bought a rocker/recliner - Value City Furniture had them on sale for $199, so it wasn't bad. I stayed in it except for potty breaks for the first 3 days
Once I was brave enough to try the bed, I couldn't have slept without my body pillow. I got my first one years ago when I was pregnant and was instantly addicted. I wedged it behind my back, so I was sort of on my side without actually being on my side and was able to sleep pretty good. Once my tummy incisions stopped being so painful, I've switched and place the body pillow under my tummy, hugging it with my arms and the bottom is between my knees - that is super comfortable.
Best of luck to you!
Pam
I did not have a recliner at home either. They had on in my room at the hospital. It was marvelous.
After about 10 days at home and getting virtually NO sleep, I went and bough a fluffy recliner. It is the best thing I have done since surgery (except forcing myself to drink lots of water). I can now sleep several hours in the recliner whereas before, I could only sleep 20-30 minutes on my sides in bed, then they would start to hurt and I would have to sit up.
I would highly recommend getting a recliner, you will really love it and be glad that you did.
Get well,
Randy
