Nervous and discouraged...:-|

Talked to the surgeon's office today and they said I was missing the 6 months of consecutive weight loss attempts. My doctor sent in a letter stating my treatment and weight loss attempts in the last year since I've been seeing her and she seemed to write a sufficient enough letter. The person I spoke to said they could send it in like it is but she was pretty snippy about it. I've had a lot of problems with my blood sugar since November 1st and now I'm on insulin and I've just been battling my health. If I have to wait 6 months or start that part over I will have spent a small fortune on all this medical. I'm on 19 prescriptions a day and I'm sensitive to my blood sugars. They are going to send in my paperwork because I asked them to. But now I'm worried. I've heard BC/BS Federal isn't much problem getting approved so I don't know what to think. I just feel discouraged.

HEY TURN THAT NEGATIVE TO POSITIVE... FIND SOMETHING YOU CAN FOCUS ON THAT IS GOOD.... IF THE ONLY THING YOU HAVE IS TO SAY THANK GOD FOR THE CHANCE TO TRY FOR SURGERY... AND IN THE MEANTIME KEEP TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT WITH YOUR DR. THAT WAY IT IS DOCUMENTED FOR THE FUTURE IF YOU NEED IT. I HAD A HARD FIGHT TO GET MINE COVERED.... BUT DAY BY DAY IT WAS WORTH IT!!

Yes Bon Bon is right. I did 6 months of dieting only to be told I must do another 6 months and I did them and it was well worth the wait. Have your PCP send in all your med. papers showing every visit. That's what my PCP did. Every time I saw her she noted why I was there and one was weight. Donna

You never know - you might get surprised and the letter may just work. If not, direct your energies toward "plan B." Determination and persistance pays off. I had to submit paperwork a few times, but was finally approved. Send documentation of your RX expenses. That will get them thinking about the cost/benefits of allowing you to have the surgery. Best Wishes!

I STEPHANIE, I KNOW IT'S HARD, BUT TRY NOT TO BE DISCOURAGED. I WAS DENIED TWICE BY BC/BS AND I HAD TO DO A 6 MONTH WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM, BUT I DID IT WITH MY DOCTOR. AFTER DOING IT AND SENDING IN MY PAPERWORK FOR THE THIRD TIME, I WAS APPROVED AND MY SURGERY IS THIS MONDAY, DECEMBER 217TH. SO, TRY TO HANG IN THERE AND EVERYTHING WILL WORK ITSELF OUT. IF YOU FEEL LIKE VENTING AND NEED SOMEONE TO LISTEN JUST GET IN TOUCH. TAKE CARE AND BE BLESSED. YVETTE
