I'AM HOME!!
Well everyone, I made it. I am on the other side. I had my surgery on Monday, Dec 6 and came home last night. Everyone went pretty smoothly. I was petrified but the nurses and doctors were wonderful! They were very reassuring and attentive.
After leaving the OR I began feeling a lot of pressure in my chest and abdomin. My doctor told me it was normal and it would go away. I asked him how soon, he said "by tomorrow" it should be better, I thought WHAT
I cant wait till tomorrow. He didnt know I hadnt received my first round of morphine yet. Anyhow after I got morphine I was much better. I still had gas pains but nothing like in the begging. Thats basically been my biggest discomfort. Also when my food/liquids go down I can feel them passing and its a little uncomfortable. But I am glad to be home and starting my new life.
My doctor said it was OK to advance to stage III diet so I can begin eating cottage cheese, yogurt, cream soups. I've been trying to get in my protein...I still have 8 oz to go on my 12 oz cup...not much progress
. But I dont know how to get my protein AND water in at the same time. Its taking me so long to drink my shake that I am falling behind on my water since I can drink more water then the shake.
Anyhow, thank you to everyone for their support and well wishes.

Donna you will be in my prayers. I wish you a speedy recovery. Please update us as soon as you are feeling well enough.
Fran I am really trying to get my protein in especially since I dont want to lose my hair but its so hard. I started drinking Myoplex Lite and it was horrible it was super thick so now Ive switched to Isopure which isnt so bad and has more protein. I am going to follow your suggestion and alternate between water and protein. Should I worry about stretching my pouch from too many liquids?
Thanks again,
BRENDA
