WLS on 7th-- are we suppose to be sugar free??

Michelle Clear liquids 2 days prior is what my dr requires. Doesn't matter about the sugar but if you can do without it would be better. I have for sometime now but I would like to have one last sprite since I can't have a coke. Kathy

Its amazing how EVERY doctor is SOOO different. Ive read several different pre op suggestions but my doctor didnt tell me to do ANYTHING! No bowel prep or anything. I received a general patient pamphlet from the hospital about nothing else. So Ive been eating normally today. Well not much really cause Im nervous but I have had some chocolate, Gatorade and a club sandwich. Good luck Michelle and Kathy!!!

i'm sugar free, clear liquids, and bowel prep - what fun i don't need to be sugar free - just liquids and clear liquids tomorrow - but might as well start some time...

My doctor never said anything about sugar free, but I did have to be on a 1,000 calorie a day diet for 2 weeks prior to my surgery on 12/1/04. At only 1,000 cals a day that excludes almost everything so I guess I was practically sugar free anyway!

The only thing I have to do is stop eating or drinking at midnight the night before. That's it.. I plan on having a really nice Christmas dinner the night before my surgery. Kathy Approval 11/24/04 Surgery with Dr. McCarty 12/16/04 (11am)

Michelle, my doctor had me do a liquid diet 3 days prior to surgery to help get the liver down smaller so it didn't have to be moved as much. So I say it depends on your doctor. Hope everything goes well. My prayers will be with you. I am 4 days post op. Tender but feeling good. Lynn

My doctor has me on protein shakes only (no food) for a two weeks before the surgery. The idea is to shrink my liver so it's easier for him to do my surgery laproscopically.
