Discomfort, Normal?
I had the Lap-Band surgery on 12-1-04. I know it's only been a few days and I should be patient. I have been have the feeling of being filled with gas that is not passing and the discomfort/pain is almost between my chest and moves right up to the top of my throar but I can't seem to burp, that's as far as it goes. I can't seem to stand up straight and tall without feeling discomfort. When I sit and slouch I'm uncomfortable. I can actually feel that I have the band inside me. The only way I can think of to describe my general overall feeling is like "I just ate at a buffet and am so so so stuffed." But I haven't really eaten anything. Is all of this normal at this stage?
Hi Pam! Sounds familiar! I had lap band on 12/2 -right after you. It went well and I came home on Friday. I have felt better each day, but have lots of gas and swelling in my tummy. I am lucky that it hasn't moved up. A lot of people on the lap band message board talked about terrible pains up into their shoulder. They said to take GasX, move around as much as possible and try a heating pad. I put my heating pad on my belly today and it felt better while on. Didn't do a lot to get rid of the gas though. I guess we have to wait on that.
How are you eating? So far, I can eat a cup of soup with no problems. I've not pushed it, but don't think that I will be one of the lucky ones who have restriction right off the bat. Oh well...it is a journey.
Keep me posted on how you are doing and we can compare notes.
Good luck with the gas!
Pam
Hi Ladies,
I got my band on 12/4 and I am having the exact problems. The gas moves, makes noise, but only comes out a little. I don't think I'm feeling the band itself, I think I'm feeling the swelling and pressure. Are you both on liquids for 2 wks? I am trying to take the protein but the ones that are worth it are nasty. Let's all hang in there together. We can all pray for mushie stage in 2 wks, ok! Email if you need to...
