Question about the Pre-op With the Surgeon

Hello to all the wonderful people , I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the pre-op with the surgeon would consist of? Also if you had any tips for me to prepare for my DEC 6th surgery? Thanks so much! -Claudia

It's different with each Dr...... I had my pre-op appt last week... did the basic physical (lungs, heart, temp, bp....) did blood with the lab, and an EKG with cardiology.... My Dr has me on clear liquids for 5 days pre-op... other do this for two days some do no days of clear liquids some do bowel preps other do not do bowel preps.... good luck Ann my date is 12/1

Hi Claudia, I was wondering the same thing. My pre-op is 12/02/04. My surgery date is the 6th also. Good-Luck and I will say a prayer for you.

My pre-op was today. Had blood work and an EKG. Am on the cabbage soup diet for one week before surgery (12/02/04) this is to help shrink the liver and I've lost 7 lbs in 5 days so I'm happy. Other than that, I'm ready to go. Stocked up on all the post sugery items and jus****ching the clock tick down now. Good luck to you! Jessica

Hi Claudia - my pre-op was the 23rd of Nov. Just blood work, talk with the doctor, ekg...am also beginning to stock up on the post stuff. i am bowel prep and liquids for two days before surgery - sounds like each doctor has their own preparations...my date is dec 7th - so i will be right behind you

My surgeon don't put us on any kind of diet. I'm wondering if I should go low carb for a few days before surgery to help my liver out. Donna
