December 1st surgery date!
One week away and I am feeling well prepared. I like the posts that offer suggestions on what to take to the hospital. I am scheduled for a lap not an open but the possiblity of going to an open is very good. So I am planning on an open and staying 5 to 6 days. I have trouble with anxiety so I am trying meditation and visualization techniqes. I dont fell as prepared on the food end of it. I have a lot of clear liquids and crackers in the house but nothing else.
Hi Georgean,
Congruatuliations on your confirmed date! WOW! Only a week away! I know you are beside yourself!
I am amazed at reading the posts on the OH boards about what each person post-op is doing for nourishment. I know each doctor is different in what they tell their patients they can have, as far as liquids or soft solids. My own surgeon has his patients stay on nothing but liquids for the first six weeks. The first three weeks of that period, he tells us to have nothing but clear liquids that we can see through, i.e. water, juice, broth, then thicker liquids during the second three weeks. After that, soft foods will be gradually introduced.
I am going to try to get stocked up on what I need for that six week period, and not worry about the soft food stage until I get to it.
Please know that I will be praying for you as your day approaches.
God bless you!
Pat
