Hi all! I only have 11 more days until banding and I am sooooo excited! Thought I'd provide my list of things I've gotten together to prepare for my surgery. I put this together from reading post-ops who posted what works best! Here goes... * A rocker/recliner chair (heard it's hard to get comfy to sleep for the first few nights and we needed a chair anyway!) * A GNC Gold Card and bought 2 weeks worth (drinking 1 a day) of the zero carb Isopure drinks in various flavors * A large container of chocolate and unflavored Unjury (protein powders) * Liquid Adult Tylenol, chewable Gas-X and chewable Adult Centrum vitamins * Some large size Band-Aids (just in case) * A good lip balm, comfy slippers, comfy clothes and travel size toothpaste and deodarant for the hospital (I'll be there 1 night) * Some ready made broth, precooked 1 oz egg and low-fat cheese omelets, precooked frozen 1 oz mashed potatoes, Fruit2o in a bunch of flavors, low-sugar oatmeal, low-fat refried beans, low-fat shredded Mexican cheese, low-fat sour cream, non-sugar added applesauce, some SF Instant Pudding, and a pack of SF popsicles/ creamsicles/fudgesicles, some canned turkey/chicken/ham to mix with Lt Mayo, lots of low carb/sugar Carnation Instant Breakfast in powder and ready mixed, a bunch of soups from Trader Joe's that sound wonderful. They are creamy soups, so I don't even have to strain anything out! I've also gotten some responses to this post on another board with a few further suggestions... * heating pad * pillow to hug on the ride home * portable cd or mp3 player I think that I have everything I need for the liquid phase. I'm trying to get the majority of things together for the mushies and soft foods stages too. Can't wait!!! I know this week will fly by with all of the events at work and Thanksgiving. I plan on eating normal this week, then cutting way back for the 5 days before surgery. I think that I will do liquids for the last 2 days even though my Dr does not require it. If nothing else, it will be good practice for me! Hope this helps. Even though we are not all having the same surgery...our recoveries and the foods we can eat are very similar. Pam

Hi Pam, I'm so glad you had a list I could refer to, I just recently asked the question as to what to bring to the hospital other than the normal things we would use on a day to day basis. Since my surgery date isn't until 12/6 and I'm off today, I think I will go to GNC and pick up a few items which you suggested just to get a jump start. I know this process will probably be a little stressful for my family but I'm thinking before I go into the hospital I will prepare some meals so that they will be able to function while I'm not there. I'm so excited. Happy Thanksgiving. KH

Hi KH! I'm very glad to help! Making lists and getting everything ready is my way of getting rid of my nerves I made sure to get enough for at least the first week since I don't know how long it will be until I feel up to driving. Making dinners ahead of time for your family is a great idea! I was really glad to know that I will only have to stay at the hospital for 1 night. My girls are 7 & 9 and even though Dad does a great job, they rely on me to help with homework and stuff. Best of luck to you! I'll be thinking of you on 12/6! Have a great Thanksgiving! Pam
