This morning at 9:30 my insurance company called to inform me that my surgery has been approved! I immediately called my doc to schedule a date and it is December 8, 2004! I'm just so excited! I've called all my family members and everyone is excited and happy for me. My 25 year old daughter actually cried! It's so nice to have so much support! Just let me say......WHHOOOOPPPPEEEE!!!!! I'm as happy for you as I am for myself! My date is also Dec 8! I've been on the waiting list at the Naval Hospital for over two years and was beginning to think this day would never come. I'm so excited and not a little nervous. My youngest daughter(24) goes from supportive to freaking over the risks. I'm insulin dependent with other co-morbidities AND THAT THE ODDS OF LIVING A HEALTHY, HAPPY LIFE ARE NOT GOOD UNLESS I HAVE THIS SURGERY! Luckily my husband is supportive, as is my older daughter and my true friends. I am feeling blessed to have this chance to live a healthy life!

Oh Norma! That's terrific! Wow, you've really waited a very long time. I'm so happy for you that this is finally becoming a reality for you! I have a 23 year old son who isn't quite as excited about my surgery as everyone else, but he's trying really hard. He's worried about the risks involved, although I've explained the risks of not having the surgery. He understands, but he still has reservations. I know what you mean about having a supportive hubby. Mine is terrific and don't know what I would do without him. Gotta go for now! Hugs, Katie

Hey Katie! Thanks for your reply and thanks for letting me know that my daughter is not the only who's hot and cold about this surgery. I'm new to the internet thing and am not used to checking for messages ,so don't give up on me.

Hi Katie! I'm so happy for you! Getting a date is the best...now we just have to get everything ready for the holidays and off we go. It is really great that your family is so supportive too. I don't know what I'd do without my hubby and close friends. They have been through it all with me (through thick and thin - LOL) and are excited as well. Good luck and keep us posted on how your surgery goes. Pam

Hi Pam! Thanks and congrats to you, too! I know what you mean about the holidays. Hubby and I were out shopping this evening and we were talking about having everything wrapped and finished WAY before surgery date. We have almost finished shopping anyway, so it shouldn't be too much of a stretch to get it all done. Keep in touch as to how you're doing! Katie
