Let's Get It Started In Here

I want to get back on track because I do not want to go back to the life I had before surgery. I know I have to be realistic with my goals but I have not even been trying and I am paying the price. I feel horrible, I have no energy, and I am gaining weight. I guess that is what eating donuts for breakfast, fast food for lunch and eating candy bars out the vending machine will do. I know I have stretched my pouch but I am feel I still have hope because when I eat dense protein I do still get full pretty quick.

From reading everyone's posts, I know I am not alone with this struggle. I know we all have different struggles but maybe we can help each other by coming here to share our thoughts, ideas, and just support one another. I thought I would get things started and see where it goes.

I totally agree.  I will need to get back on track once I have my baby.  This board has been way to quiet and we to kick it off again.

This page has made me come out of the closet.  I'm 8 yrs post opt.  I have gain 24 lbs and I feel terrible.  I going to go back to the rules and star****ching what I eat and exercise.

I have gained about 20lbs back so I'm going to get back on track. I might try the Atkins diet as i did that some years back and lost 59lbs in 6 months. Slow losing but it came off.

How is everyone else doing??

Hi everyone been years since I've posted but I'm feeling the blues from gaining weight.  In the last year I've gained 15 pounds and I'm deathly afraid I'll keep gaining and won't stop.  I do drink a lot of wine so I am cutting back, I'd like to start exercising again and begin drinking protein shakes in place of breakfast or lunch.

I'd love some suggestions and ideas, anything that's worked for you.

Hi Brenda,

I hope you are doing okay. I gained 30 lbs in the last year and a half.  Sounds like you are making good changes. I am doing the same thing and am trying to follow the guidelines the dietitian gave me. Protein first, then vegetables and complex carbs, then fruit last. I do well during the day but at night everything just goes out the window. I am meeting with my dietitian again on Oct 6th. I hope to at least have my old routine back.

I think I am going to try Atkins. I think if I can beat the carb addiction again I can start losing. I was following South Beach half hearted and also tried Weigh****chers again and a host of other popular diets. I realize that not all diets are good for us and just have to face the fact that I have to follow a high protein low carb lifesytle.

I agree with you on the Atkins diet. Right now that diet is on hold as blood readings came back not looking so good. Had low white blood count and enaemic.

I am not sure if I am replying correctly. I hope everyone can see this. I wish I would have kept up with the commitment I made in May. I didnt and ended up in trouble. I went to too many feeding and drinking parties and ended up really sick. I got so bad that I went to the hospital in terrible pain on Aug 5th. Turned out to be my gall bladder but I had stones and sludge in my duct so I had to be transferred to the hosp where I had my gastric bypass done. The surgeon that did my gastric bypass fixed me up and although it took a month to recover I am finally back to feeling better. I learned my lesson and am really trying to get back on track.

My love to all of you. We seem to be struggling so I am sending big hugs and good karma to all of you.
