Kidney Stones?

Hello Everyone! Has anyone had a problem with kidney stones? I went to the ER on Dec.19th with severe pain in my left side and terribly sick...was admitted to the hosp. and I passed one(the size of an apple seed) on Dec. 20th.... worst pain I have ever had!! Just curious to see if anyone else had experienced this. Thanks. Julie

Hi Julie, I have had either 4 or 5 kidney stones since WLS. Probably had 4 before as well. I have never actually passed one as they have all been too large for me to pass. My smallest measured 4.5 cm, and my last was my largest at 7.7 cm. It is the only one that has actually moved out of my kidney and into the ureter. That one was a killer.... All of mine have had to have either Lithotripsy or Lazertripsy on them. And to me the worst part of the kidney stone has not been the stone themselves, or the anesthesia to perform the lithotripsy or lazertripsy, but has been the stint they place after these procedures. I did read somewhere that Crystal Light (Orange Sunriser I think) has been linked with kidney stones. Can't remember where I read that, but it seems like I read an article on this. Shame for me cause Crystal Light Orange Sunriser is a staple in my house.... I'll just have to deal with the kidney stones... Good Luck to you... hope you don't have to deal with as many as I have... I work at a Kidney Dialysis center and I saw a magazine cover today that said "new gastric bypass surgery linked to kidney stones", I wasn't able to read the article, but it was in a professional journal for urology. I will look for more info.
