BELLY BUTTON TROUBLE

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced irritation to your belly button due to flabby skin? If so what are you doing for it? I noticed my belly button was all inflamed and red about two weeks ago and I'm keeping it clean and as dry as I can but it is still getting a little pink, inflamed and is leaking from time to time. I'm wondering if I can get a Tummy tuck due to this irritation and then maybe my surgeon would throw in either an arm lift or tit lift. My WL surgeon does Plastic surgery also. What a deal!! The 17th will be my last day or I should say last night at work. I'm having second thoughts but my husband told me NO on staying due to my health Ron said we will find you something else and it won't be a night job. Donna

Donna, I usually get rashes under my stomach, but I recently got one in my belly button too. You should go to your pcp to get it documented. It certainly can't hurt and it might help you to get insurance to pay for some of the plastic surgery. I went to my pcp and he prescibed a cream that seemed to clear it right up. Good luck with the job situation. You do need to take care of yourself. Take care, Mary

Hi Donna, It happened to me once after my WLS. I put clotrimazole cream (antifungal cream...like for athlete's feet) on it and it got better in no time. I showed the pharmacist and that is what they recommended. I had some at home already because that is what my gyno told me to use years ago for the rash under my boobs. I would do like Mary said and show my doctor and get it documented. Good luck sweetie. Take care and have a great day, Diana

Donna, It is embarrassing to call about a belly button - but it is worth it if it helps getting coverage for plastic surgery. I know I felt silly seeing my pcp about my belly buttom rash. Good luck, Mary

Donna, Girl if you are really wanting to get your insurance to pay for the TT then you need to start going to the Dr. about each and every rash you get. Also make sure that he documents it in your file and take pictures of the rashes for documentation. Good luck and I hope it gets better. Take care, Loni

Hi Donna, I haven't had any rashes in my belly button since surgery, but used to have them before surgery occasionally... due to the sweating and my pants rubbing them. I used a little monistat cream that was left over from when I had had a yeast infection, and it cleared it right up. I have only had one rash type thing happen to me since surgery, and I am just getting over it now. Mine was at the top of the crack of my saggy butt... right where my tailbone protrudes out. I blamed it on a pressure ulcer type thing from spending so much time on my back lately while I have been sick. I used a little Gold Bond medicated powder, and it is clearing right up finally. Definitely make sure you go to the doctor everytime you get any rash that is due to saggy skin, and like it was said before, make sure they documnet in your chart, and pictures will be very helpful too when the time comes for plastic surgery Hugs, Susan
