Dear Theresa,
Hi. I am glad you came to the boards. It is a struggle. Sometimes it seems unfair that other people can eat things that would put 5 lbs instantly on me, but as long as I can remember I have had to watch what I eat.
I have never made it to my goal... to be normal weight for my height. I am now 136 lbs, started out at 272 the day of surgery (I had lost 20 lbs in the year with the nutritionist) I am still trying with everything that is in me to make my goal. Oh, I am only 5' tall. I usually exercise every day, but this week I skipped the last 3 days because company has been over and I have a horrible toothache. They are still here, so I don't know what will happen, but I HATE missing more then 2 days a week. I am 50 years old.
I drink 1 or 2 protein drinks a day and always eat protein first. I found very healthy pasta to make speghetti with...it is high protein and high fiber! I don't drink enough water, but I do drink a lot of fluids, including crystal light and decaff coffee.
Kinda feels like dieting before WLS.
Take care and please come back!
Allison

Teresa, Hi there!!! Welcome to this board. I am going to read your profile to get to know you. Please feel free to read mine. My name is Lorraine. I am 54 years old and was obese most of my life. I had WLS on 12/15/03. I was a brittle diabetic, with severe nueropathy. I took 18 pills a day and lots of insulin. I had many comorbidities. I weighed at the time of my surgery 245 lbs. I still wear a size 8 but they are snug. I have been for about one year at "Goal". I am struggling alot lately also. I seem to be able to digest after having such a hard time for so long digesting. I have gained 10 pounds. My clothes are a bit tight, but I am 5ft6 and weighing now about 145 lbs. I had gotten to 135 pds, which to me was just too thin. I am trying to maintain and hoping the extra 10 comes off. To help it out I have bought snack size popcorn bags and made sure I bought the Fat Free one. I am eating much less carbs. I had my 2 year checkup and my bloodwork is great. I will be on my bike as soon as the weather gets a bit warmer. I hope to see you soon and please lets hear about your weight loss.
Take care and WELCOME
Lorraine
RNY 12/15/03....245 lbs

Just thought I'd post...hoping to get support and also lend support others here too. Theresa

Hello Great new pic! Looking good Anyways...thanks for all the compliments, the family pics are from fall of 04.....We ran out of time this fall and never got a new family pic done.....I think this year we will do a spring one My insurance did pay for almost all of my plastics. They covered the panni, and the breast reduction. I ended up wanting the full TT with muscle repair and anchor cut because I am so top heavy.....I paid out of pocket for that and it ended up being close to 3K(for the coversion panni to full TT with muscle repair)....it worked out were I could do that.....if I wouldn't have been able to pay the extra I still would have at least got the panni off tho. (panni is the apron of skin that usually hangs the most). What I did (instead of messing with insurances) was to call the actual PS that I was interested in, asking to speak with the billing/insurance people and asked them if they had any luck getting stuff done with my insurance. Sure saved me a lot of time! Anyways the PS I chose was excellent in getting insurance approval, knowing exactly what she could get them to pay for and not....I was going to go for a reduction.....she was the one who insisted they would cover it, and she was right......aprroved in ONE day! A good PS will know what is going on and should be willing to help ya!!! Take Care Jesi
P.S. How are the breasts holding up after 10 years?? I am so happy with my results right now, but curious what ten years holds for me? Again Thanks!!!!

You have a great picture journal...you have truly been transformed.
I haven't had any surgeries since WLS. I had a breast reduction ten years back. I'm having my gall bladder out a week from tomorrow.
Did insurance cover all your PS? I may approach my carrier about a TT, otherwise I guess I'm just stuck with some extra skin.
You look great Jesi and the pictures of your family are terrific.

Shelly, How are you? I am happy to see a post similiar to what I am thinking these days. I have gained a few pounds that I feel. I am now weighing 145 lbs. I have gained about 7-10 pds depending on the day. I am 5ft6 and still wearing my Size 8 clothes, but it's so funny. When I was 245 lbs and gained, whether it be 5.10 20 pounds, I did not feel it. Now that I have been at "GOAL" I feel these few pounds. My clothes fit, but a bit snug. I understand that yes indeed, its hard to stay motivated. What keeps me going is....... "I have come to far to go back"
I have cut my carbs and I am back to work. I had surgery Dec 5th for a Vein Ligation and was not so active. Now I am 'BACK ON TRACK" The nice weather is here so I am back bike riding.
You have my support and keep posting.

Knocking on wood~I think I am done with surgeries for awhile. Lets see in 1999 had c-section
2001 had c-section and tubal ligation
2003 had WLS
2004 had hysterectomy
2005 Tummy tuck
2006 Breast reduction
I am about tapped out on the whole surgery hospital business I had my breast reduction Thursday.....I am home resting and feeling pretty good.....I am a little sore from were she did a scar revision on the upper ab area....other than that, feeling good!!! But I have NO plans to go for thigh or arm work....I will never wear tank tops or daisy dukes anyways Now I think I can concentrate on me, school work, health , eating right, taking vitamins right etc! If ya wanna check out my plastics go to www.picturetrail.com/jesinjay I put a password on the plastic folders (two of them) because they are kinda graphic and well I was getting like 500 hits a week to them and it kinda creeped me out But you guys are welcome to check them out the password is plastics (tricky I know) Anyways....all is well just recovering and gonna do some homework! Take Care and I hope everything is going well for everyone! jesi
