Topic: RE: 2 Years out.....What Advice would you give to those just starting out
Hi Lisa
I am 26 months post-op and I have lost over 300 lbs.I have gained so much because of this surgery.I have gained my self esteem back I have regained my health,I was a wreck before this surgery I was on 12 different meds and felt like crap.I have a life now and I am happy for the first time in years and I am living the life I have always wanted to live.So much has changed for me and I know that if I didn't have wls I would be dead by now,I wasn't even living at 600 lbs and didn't leave my house for almost 6 years I watched life go by my window and hated life and wanted to die,I prayed that God would end my misery.I would tell anyone who has thought about wls to do it.I had to risk my life to save it and at 598 lbs wls was a great risk for someone as big as I was on that day.I made it and today I am happy and I thank God for not taking me when I asked him so many times.I wish you all the best of luck and if you ever need advice email me and i'll do my best to help you.Life is good and I am very thankful for Dr John Kelly who saved my life and gave me one back.I hope you all have a great night.......steve

No, I'm very regular, since I've been on Zelnorm. I got in touch with my PCP and she wants me to take Prilosec OTC for two weeks and see. If no improvement, then something stronger. I have some at home, so I will start today. I don't mind the restrictions, not at all, but I don't like the burning, gas pain feeling. I'm a bit scared of another ulcer, especially now after the surgery. That is something I don't need. I had them before. I wonder if the Vicodin has something to do with it?

Nona, Hi there I know this may sound crazy,,,, but are you constipated? This may give you that full feeling. I think if you have no pain when eating, to me, this would be a good thing. I can't eat too much sugar either. I really can't eat much of chinese food or fried foods. to this surgery. It does stop me and I try to eat healthy. I would definetly consult your Dr about your heartburn. When I get full faster its just a reminder my Little Biity Stomach is still there and everything is OK with my WLS. I am not a Dr but I hope I have helped you.
Have a great Monday

Topic: Any Ideas?
HI Guys, got some wierd things going on and was wondering if you all could send some input. Until recently, I could eat just about anything, in moderation. I could eat, in quantity. a full Lean Cuisine meal and a small salad or a half an apple. Now, for some reason, I can't tolerate sugar, even in smaller quantities, nor any grease at all. and I can't finish a Lean Cuisine. Plus I have, what I think is, heartburn. I am taking Mylanta, but still have that odd sensation. Anyone else have this or do y'all think I should call my doctor? My surgeon isn't around any more and there are none who will take on one this far out, so all I have is my PCP. I'd appreciate any input in this. Thanks in advance.

well I'm with you I see nothing wrong with promoting my surgeon. He did a great job and I think he should be rewarded with free publicity. He changed my life. Too often people will pass along the bad news but they fail to share the good news. Be proud to share your Doctor's success.

I had surgeryw ith an awesome compassionate doc and have encouraged several friends to go to him as well. They have all loved him as well. However, I have a now friend who was an acquaintance and I told ehr there were probably lots of good surgeons and I didn't want o be obnoxious about my own doc being the only good one...anyway she went somewhere else and that has turned out to be a disaster due to this docs "production" line approach to our surgery. She is going to end up going to my surgeon for her followup....Now I will proably be more obnoxious!!
So my advice woudl be to make sure your doc is going to take care of you after especially if you have complications.

Sounds like you have a full weekend ahead. Don't over do it though.

I AM SO BLESSED!
I am a nurse but three years ago I landed a job in a walk in clinic. At that time we were open 7 days a week. Through the power of prayer they finally decided to close the clinic on Sundays. Which allowed me to be in church every Sunday. A couple of times there was talk of reopening the clinic on Sunday's but The Lord has been merciful and we are still closed on Sundays!
