Topic: RE: Have you started you XMAS Shopping?
I have already put some stuff for my kids on lay away at Wal-Mart. That is about as far as I have gotten.
My husband has asked what I wanted for Christmas and I tell him the same thing as you....CLOTHES!!
Believe it or not I am not worried too much about all the food. We usually have Thanksgiving and Christmas at my house with my husband's people so by the time it is over I don't want any.
Have a good weekend!

Topic: Have you started you XMAS Shopping?
Hi there to everybody,
Now that the holidays are approaching has anyone starting shopping?
I have. I don't think I would have started yet but since I am home, and out of work now I have started.
I don't like crowds so the stores are perfect at this time.;
Are your family members and friends asking you already what do you want for XMAS?
Yes my friends and family are asking. My answer......CLOTHES OR GIFT CERTIFICATES ARE FINE.I am sure none of us can wear our last years clothes.
What are your plans this year for XMAS? Are you dreading as I am all the food with the holiday gatherings?
My plans are to be with family as I do every year.
Yes I am dreading all the food. Oh God. I sure hope I can handle it.
Have a great weekend
Lorraine

Topic: RE: Eleven months
Hi there Nona, I am glad you are ok and no cancer cells were found.
I get very sick when I try to eat chocolate. I can eat hard candys and lolllipops fine, I try not to keep those things in the house. I really don't keep track of calories. I don't have any patience for it. I must be doing something right I"m at "GOAL". I just keep the carbs at a limit.
I am still sittng at -110 pds. I started at 245 lbs and I bounce back between 132 lbs and 135 lbs. I am very satisfied with this. I just try to eat more protein and still enjoy my protein drinks.
Have a great day.......

Topic: RE: It's been nearly a year!
Hi Vicki. Just wanted to say that I feel the same way you do about this surgery. It has been simply amazing and I am so happy that I was approved by my insurance and had surgery all within 3 months of making the decision to do it! I've lost 174.5 pounds so far and I'm almost to goal. My life has done a 360 and I feel like a new person - inside and outside. Congratulations to you on your awesome weight loss and for your new "lease on life". Good luck with the last 17 pounds.

Topic: It's been nearly a year!
I had my surgery on 12/19/03 and I have never EVER regretted the decision to have it done! It has been, for lack of a better word, the most amazing journey I have ever been on! I thank God every day that everything worked out for me with my insurance company and for all the paperwork involved and for finding the perfect doctor! Dr. Hugh Babineau in Tyler, Texas is just a wonderful man along with his staff! If anyone "out there" has a question regarding this surgery, please feel free to email me. I will answer any question you ask me! I feel so much better, and yes........the thrill of looking better is there, but I just FEEL so much better! Dr. B gave me my life back! Good luck to anyone who has made the decision to go ahead with this surgery! You won't regret it!!! Oh, and I have lost 103 pounds with about 17 more to go!!!
Topic: RE: Calories
Thanks for the info Shannon. Yes I have been taking measurements and since August I have lost 1 1/2 inches in my waist and hip area as well as other areas as well. My abdomin area is not doing very well but that nasty skin will be gone on Dec 7 when I have my hernia repair, breast reduction and tummy tuck. So yes all my clothes are still getting baggy much to my relief, and of course none of them will probably fit at all after my surgery. I was just hoping to lose some more weight before surgery. Yes I know I am having the tummy tuck a little early, but I have quite the apron at the moment making my back hurt and walking can be bothersome at times and my insurance here at work has just announced that they will not be paying for any plastic surgery for people who have had gastric bypass surgery beginning Jan.1. So I have decided to get what I can removed now, and hopefully the rest will take care of itself later. I don't want to wait and then I won't be able to get the money to have any of it removed later.
As far as my weight is concerned, I would probably be much better off if I could just stay away from the scale, but every week it pulls me like a magnet. It doesn't help that they have a scale right in front of me at the YMCA where I work out. Yes, I exercise by swmming and weights 3 times a week, and I try to get a walk in everyday, depending on the weather here in Nebraska.
Thanks again for the support
chris
Topic: RE: Must be nuts!!!!!!!!!!
Therapy ain't bad!!!! Been there done that and nothing to be ashamed of or hide.
Some folks just don't understand.
I wish I could walk to more than my neighborhood. Too many hills and no sidewalks. I want to live as much as I would like to get in more exercise.
I keep trying to advocate moving to the city but we would have to pay an additional 2% income tax and probably not have parking off street for 2 cars or a fenced in area for the dogs. So hard to justify!
I say stay in the city and walk walk walk!
Good for you... GO back to school!! I am doing it right now and it soooo rewarding!!
Keep up the good work!
Topic: RE: Calories
I think I saw 1200 on some paperwork I was given at the beginning but they never say at my Dr's and I was just there for my 9 month check in a few weeks ago.
I try to stay under 1500 and I don't really track my calories. I keep randomly losing a lb here and there slowly these days.
Are you measuring at all??? I know the scale hasn't moved much the last 2 months BUT my jeans are getting really loose!!!
They said to up protein and water to facilitate more weight loss if wanted...but I am fine with my slow steady state and hopefully won't need any tummy tuck or ps b/c of it.
Sounds like you are eating healthy and not mindless calories so I wouldn't be too concerned. Do you exercise? Sometimes that can get the body motivated to burn fat!
Try using INCHES instead of lbs and see if you notice any changes that way.
Topic: RE: Weight Loss Pictures from Start to October
Yep that is me....nice slow loser...
but I can't complain because I put absolutely NO effort forth in the process.
I eat what I want just less, hardly exercise on a consistent basis and don't get my water in. SO I am amazed I have done this well at all.
I am fairly content with where I am now....don't have a lot of problems shopping for clothes except for being sooo darn short and the petite sections are limiting fashion wise. Thank goodness Kohl's has a decent selection and prices for pants!
You aren't alone!
I started at 249 and want to get to 140....that puts me in a good BMI range. But if I didn't lose another pound and stay at this size forever...fine with me!
According to my scale I can eat 2300 calories a day to maintain my current weight I know I don't get more than 1500/day or less...so I am not worried. I am very satisfied food wise. My cravings are met and I am happy with eating a snack sized candy bar instead of an entire big one! I tend to measure out my food when I eat at home and stick to 1 Cup or LESS food portions.
I drink diet drinks so that I don't get lots of empty extra calories when I do drink. I have the occasional glass of wine or beer (usually red wine) and only recently started drinking coffee. I think I like it because I am COLDER now but miss having cappuccino's (darn sugar).
Hang in there... feel free to email directly any time. I am good about checking my personal accounts but horrible when it comes to Message Boards these days!!!
