Sorry, no Angel Wisdom today, but this quote comes at a time for me that makes complete sense....even if I don't, lol.

The state of your life is nothing more than a reflection of your state of mind.

Topic: Did anyone watch Oprah?
Hi there guys, If I was not out of work I would have missed this great show Oprah had on today.
1)Did anyone watch it?
Yes I watched it.
2)What do you think about it?
I think it was amazing all the things she could not do because of her 550 lb size.
3)Wasn't it horrible to see the prison she lived in because of her morbid obestiy?
Once 9/11 came and the stores were closed around where she lived she could no longer get to any other stores WLS was then her option.
4)Were you emotional like me?
I cried and cried trying to imagine what it would be like not to see your family because she said when she hugged them, they would feel all the fat. She just hid herself away like a prison with all the shades closed.
Have a nice week everybody.....

Nona,
I will tell you exactly what my surgeon tells me..."Don't focus on what the numbers say so much as how you feel." With that being said, how do you feel now compared to 11 mos. ago? Are you taking time to get to know the new you that has emerged? Are you embracing and excepting that person? Is your quality of life better now then 11 mos. ago? If you answered yes to the above questions then you are doing great! Embrace your new life even if it means you don't lose another pound.
In all honesty I cannot say yes to all those things above (yet), and this advise is given solely on how I would like to feel one day soon.
Much love to you and your in my prayers.

Topic: RE: Did anyone watch Dateline last night?
I specifically watched this program because my surgeon, Dr Dan Procter, and his practice/program Obesity Solutions, had a segment on this show. I for some reason thought that Dateline would be doing a show on the success stories of patients that have had WLS. Boy was I ever WRONG.
When I heard that Dateline was coming to our support group to film I was thrilled! Not that I wanted to be recognized for my success with WLS, but because Dr Procter would be recognized for the thousands of lives he has saved or at the very least made so much better through WLS.
Dr Procter is one of the better bariatric surgeons whose mortality rate is drastically lower than the national average. I also work for the healthcare facilty where Dr Procter performs surgery. I know first hand how commited both are at having an excellent bariatric program. I am extremely proud of both Dr Procter and my employer for the quality healtcare they provide every single day.
After viewing the show, I was devasted that NBC choose to showcase once again the negative aspect of WLS. I guess ratings are ratings and it was sweeps week.
Shame on NBC.

Thanks Lorraine, I guess when you look at 300lbs starting, and a 100lbs loss, that isn't so bad. It's just that not seeing any action for 4 months is so maddening. But maybe, with time, it'll come off a little more. Even if I could get to 185 I'd be thrilled. Say a little prayer for me that it'll comply.

Nona, I looked at your profile. You have lost about as much as us. The difference is that you might be comparing yourself to others who were weighing less than you to start. That meant that they acheived goal before you.You will get there Nona, just give yourself a chance OK??
Take care of yourself and stop worrying yourself OK...

Thanks Lorraine,
I guess I get obsessed with the scale. According to my PCP, my intake is just right. I would like to get more off, but, well, I guess 200lbs is where I'm going to stay. I would have loved to be at my goal of 170, a size 12, but I guess that's not going to happen. I do envy those here who have gotten to their goal, or at least are still loosing. But I am glad for all of you, even if I'm a bit jealous.

Nona, You are doing fine. Don't be so hard on yourself. My scale has not moved either. i think if you maintain your weight that is also important. Most of your weight you needed to lose is off right? Don't panic OK?
Your diet looks fine.I don't count calories, it makes me nuts. I jus****ch the carbs and keep and little idea in my head what is over. I don't know if that is the right way but.... How can it be so bad? I am at "Goal". The losing of our weight is not over.We will lose more. It just won't be at the rate we lost before..
Keep up your good work. OK?
to what you have done so far. OK.....
