Topic: RE: Hernia for my 1yr.
Hi Diana,
I am sharing the same plight with the hernia. Unfortunately for me my surgeon did not find mine when I went in for a check up, even though I felt like something was wrong. Anyway I kept lifting weights and carrying on with normal life for about three weeks and then the real pain started, I west to my regualar doctor, *****ferred me to a surgeon and he found a rather large hernia.
I will probably have surgery this month ( December) too. On the plus side, I will probably get a tummy tuck at the same time, so there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Good luck and I will keep you in my prayers.
Topic: Happy anniversary Alice!!
I'm a day late, but wanted to wish Alice T. a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY. Alice and I sat together at my first seminar and then later hooked up without, at first realizing that we were the same people to sit together....but we eventually figured it out. SHe has been a great friend and source of encouragement....and is about 2 weeks ahead of me. Way to go, Alice!!!!

Topic: I'm feeling better!
I was just sooo discouraged.....from my 10 month anniversary to my 11th, I lost nothing.......well actually, I lost 3 lbs the first few days, then gained them all back and then in the early part of the 11th month, I gained 2 more. I was so down about it. I didn't even post my usual monthly anniversary report and I didn't update my profile like I have done every month. I truly felt like I was failing.
I did have a feeling that it was related to the strong hormones my doc had just put me on (a couple days after my 10 mo. anniversary) but of course, didn't know that for sure. I was just on them temporarily before my hysterectomy (which is Dec. 17, the day before my 1 yr. WLS anniversary). I've been off them for 5-6 days now in prep for that surgery and I've dropped all 5 lbs. gained. I could tell that all the extra weight was sitting in my abdomen and ankles and I felt so blah! And so much like "this is it" too. BUt those 5 lbs are gone again and I don't have that awful bloated feeling. I am not going back on them as I have less than 2 weeks till surgery.
Even though I dread surgery again, I'm so ready to not have a uterus! (sorry, men)! Then I hope desperately to get my iron levels back up and find out just how good a person can feel with 120+ lbs gone AND normal iron levels. The 120 lbs. have definately made a difference and I'm sure I'll feel even better when I have no anemia.
I also hope that not eating much for a few days (pre-surg. and day of and after) that I'll jump start my loosing again. I'm back to within 12-15 of goal and I guess I won't make it for my 1-yr. like I hoped but maybe by 14-15 months out?? Hoping soo....

Topic: One year later and a new me
Today is one year post-op. I have lost 147 pounds and feel great. I am actually doctoring to stop the weight loss. My only fear is maintaining my new weight. I don't ever want to get that big again. It's great to see that in one year's time I went from a size 26-28 to a size 6. I am grateful for all of the support I have been given by family and friends. I have no regrets.

Diane, I am sorry you are experiencing pain and I hope and pray that it will soon be resolved. You are so encouraging to others and it is now time for us to provide that encouragement to you. Know that you will be in my prayers.

Don't let other people's opinion sabotage your personal goal. If you are comfortable at the weight you are now, okay. But if you want to lose those next 20 pounds, you can.

Congratulations Rachel.

Proud you should be ~~ no matter what anyone says, it's still a lot of work and determination even after WLS.
