Hi all, Haven't been around much lately. My youngest daughter is in the hospital again. She's lost the use of her legs due to Transverse Myacitis. A side effect of SLE. She's 29, married with one son. I've been going back and forth to the hospital, which is a 5 hour round trip. So, I'm not eating right and not exercising at all. But the weight is holding, which isn't bad. At least I'm not gaining. She started her first round of chemo, the only treatment for this condition and it made her so sick. Poor little kid. It breaks my heart to see her like that knowing I can't do anything to help, other than wipe her face and hold her hand. She goes to rehab on Wednesday. It's a whole lot closer, so it'll be easier to get to see her. Say a prayer for her. Thanks Nona

I don't know if my situation is exactly returning to "old habits". For a couple of months sometimes when I eat I get pain/soreness in my back. (Yes, I still have my gall bladder). This usually happens with an evening meal or with denser protein foods. I talked to the nurse at the surgeon's office she said to try a couple weeks of Prevacid (she thought it might be gastritis) which I have and it doesn't seem to be resolving the issue. The last two nights I have had horrible sickness -- the worst in fact. Night before last I was even scared. I can't afford to be sick.............I can't afford to lose anymore weight....... I'm not "testing the waters" of regular food. Anyone had this happen to them? LuvitsunnyV

Does anyone just try to forget you had WLS and test your ability to eat like before? Hi Lorraine The good news is that the surgery is still working for you.I know because I have tried to eat like I once did.I almost puked out my spleen.So i'm sorry you got sick but i'm glad your still not able to eat like we used to....steve c

Oh, yes I do. The other day I ate an entire lean hot pocket! I got a little scared no side effects but sometimes I think we all just dive into our plate that we are no different! However it is so funny when I think I am eating too much I end up loosing. Karie -131 pounds

I was bad wednesday too. I ate a piece of Kringle and a half a donut. I have religiously stayed away from donuts for a year and a half now because I know it is a trigger food for me. But I gave in Wednesday. I am back on track the past 2 days though - I try to drink a lot of fluids when I get the urge to eat when I know I shouldn't. It usually works. Yesterday I ate carrots for a snack when I really wanted chips. Yeah for me!

Sounds awful and it's a good reminder! glad you are doing better. Good luck with your plastic surgery. I have a while to go before I consider that. I have no $$$ so hopefully insurance will pay for some of it.

Sure! Sometimes I'll have something I really like and I'll plan on eating this great big delicious meal. Lo and behold though, I can't do it. I end up getting so full way before I eat it all. Luckily for me too or I would never lose another ounce. I want to lose 45 more lbs but it has slowed down to a stand still the past few weeks. I get very nauseated if I over eat which is good cause then I get back on track and behave. Now I can eat almost anything and more of it so I have to watch my calories a lot more than before. Don't beat yourself up - you have done great!!
