Hi all It was a little windy and cool today but we managed to get in about 3 1/2 miles. The photos can be found by following the www link at the bottom of this post. We even say another noise maker today...this one was larger. This is what i do for my exercise. Hiking is fun and I've even enlisted some of the support group members to join. Darrol

Hey Jesi. Sounds like your are doing well and keeping super busy. Much easier to keep busy at 159 lbs huh? Keep trying at the elliptical - it's one of my favorite exercise machines and it's a great workout. Now I am doing spinning classes and step aerobics in addition to the elliptical and treadmill. The spinning class was hard at first but now I feel like an old pro! You'll feel the same with the elliptical. It's hard for me to fit all this in especially being a single working mother but it was just a matter of rearranging my schedule. I'm down 202 lbs and am at 145 lbs now (I'm 5'7"). My LBL is scheduled for April 4th. I can't wait! Enjoy! Kim

Hi Jesi It's great to hear from you and see that you are doing so well. It has been an amazing journey hasn't it!?!?!?! I know what you mean about being busy. Prior to WLS I could never have kept up with the pace I am going at, but no complaints here And the CARB thing, Oh...me too!!! Crackers, popcorn, chips it all sits so well in my tummy and I can eat lots more of them than anything else. So sorry to hear about your hysterectomy, but it can be a good thing. I had mine in Jan 03 from complications with my last baby and it has been great. We were done with babies anyway and now no periods. Whoo Hooo I (ummm we can't complain LOL ) I am glad to hear that you are feeling better. Have a Wonderful Spring and keep poppin' in!! Kimberly 245/@ goal 119 LBL in 10 days!!!! OMGosh

I can't believe I haven't posted to this board in forever!!! Looks like everyone is doing good.....I love all the new pics! How is everyone? I got an email from Mark the other day and wanted to drop in here and see everyone!!! I am doing good....it feels like I am on a neverending plateau unfortunetly! I am down 135lbs to make me 159lbs!!! I want to get to 147 so I still need to lose 12lbs.....these last few are hanging on for dear life tho I still do not exercise like I should....I bought an elliptical and have slowly started that....they are A LOT harder than I thought...I could only do like 7 minutes on the lowest setting....here I am 26 and totally out of shape still, but I am working on it!!! Plus now that the weather is getting nicer (well kinda) I hope to be outside more with the kids! I can tolerate most food now.....tuna and real eggs still get to me tho, and most breads if I am not careful! I have learned tho that I am controlled by carbs.....when I eat them, they take over and I have NO control....so I have really been limiting them now.....only carbs from veggies and fruit! It probably has alot to do with my PCOS and insulin resistance, but for me carbs are the I still have a protein shake everyday, and take my pills like I should! Been busy with the girls....I thought when they went to school I would finally have a break.....WRONG even tho the twins are only in kindegarten they have so much crap going on!!! I am also there Daisy leader (girlscouts) we always seem busy.....I am on the main boards still and my local board....I promise to start coming back here!!!! I would LOVE to hear how everyone else is doing on this wonderful journey!!! My only complication from the surgery~being able to no longer control my periods from BC pills(wasn't absorbing it and patches and shots didn't help)....I bled for almost 9 months straight.....(long history with horrible periods and fibroids and cyst) anyways I wasn't expecting that!!! That is the one thing, you just never know who will absorb what.....Anyways I had to have a total hysterectomy in Oct......but all is good now, no longer anemic Take Care everyone and hope to see everyone around here more jesi

Ruthana, First off glad to here your report came back with good news. I know it is my faith that brings me thru everytime! Sorry, to here about your GB. However, I do hear of lots of WLS folks who end up having to have theirs removed. You have done a super job with your weight loss. I am still in awe myself that I am still losing and wonder when I will stop....not to be weird but don't wont to get too thin. I have lost a total of -136lbs. I had my second PS consult the other day. I was pleased with what this doctor had to say. The first doctor I saw said I needed to have implants also with my breast lift. This doctor said I would be better with just a lift and then if I wanted more fullness to had that later . I am forsure going to get the TT...getting insurance to pay for that...have to play their games of paper work first. Take care and God bless! Karie

I couldn't eat bananas six months ago -- made me dump. I can eat them okay now. I haven't had more than a bite or two of bread in 15 months. There are still a lot of foods that I used to like that I have a total distaste for now. How are everyone's elses tastebuds doing? LuvitsunnyVB~lo/goal

Hi everyone, Here's my question: What foods can you eat now, that you couldn't 6 months ago? For me, sugar. Not a good thing. I have to be so careful with the sweets. I don' t just have a sweet tooth, I have a whole mouthfull of them. So I try to get things that are low in sugar, but still sweet. I can't eat sugar free stuff, as that gives me serious gas, so I have to be really careful. Nona

To have had a relatively quiet year post op I am now experiencing some things.......of course, it always happens when you start a new job, right? I have had three bad "attacks" since January -- nausea, vomiting and pain between shoulder blades all across my back........ gall bladder ultra sound revealed what I suspected all along -- gallstones. My surgeon also wants to do a scope to make sure there is no narrowing that might be part of the problem as well. (That is scheduled for March 16.) I went to the gastroenterologist that the surgeon recommended and on exam he felt like I had a large aorta for my "thinness". (He knew I had lost 110+# thru WLS.) I had all weekend to worry about the possibilities.....but my faith came thru and this AM, thank God, my ultra sound of the aorta showed a good aorta function, size, etc. She showed me on the screen and I listened to the flow and/rhythm. She showed me where my skin was and where my aorta was and because there is no "fat cushion" anymore, just skin, the aorta can be heard and felt easily. I whispered a prayer of thanksgiving! I go to my surgeon on Thursday for results and hopefully scheduling the GB surgery. As thin as I am now at 118 I feel great and know without a doubt that my surgery 15 months ago has helped me achieve a healthier body and lifestyle. I will be posting some new pictures soon. I hope all my fellow 2003 Decemberites are doing well and seeing all there goals achieved. Blessings to all. Ruthanna (luvitsunnyVB~lo/goal)
