28 Months ago and some change

Hi Family This board is kinda of dead.I had wls 28 months and 3 days ago.I was 598 lbs then and today I weigh 229 lbs.I feel great,I don't look bad and people say I clean up nice.A lot has changed for me.I had a good woman(so I thought)But we broke up a while back,I made a mistake when I moved in with her and her 4 daughters,I gave up my apartment and a lot of my stuff.I learned a life lesson.I now have my own place again and I live a few houses from my ex and her kids still come to me for rides and money(my ex has nothing and lives on child support) I love those kids and if they really need it for school or a ride I do it.maybe i'm a fool but those kids did nothing wrong and I won't turn on them.Well I hope you all have a wonderful day..........steve

Good for you! So many people would just turn their backs on the 'steps' when they move on. Just don't let them use you. Give them 'a hand up', not a 'hand out'. Make them earn it. Give them a chore, if they want money. Mow the grass, pull weeds, walk the dog. Kids respect that a whole lot more than if you just give it all the time. I'm not suggesting you do it every time, just some of the time. That way, they know you are really there to help, not just a 'soft touch'. Know what I mean? Nona

Hi Nona That is a really good idea.The 8 year old Brooke and the 12 year old Desi could clean my yard or something like that.I like what you said "give them a hand up,not a hand out"I was just talking to my ex April this morning and she said if the kids get on your nerves let me know,I bought Brooke a new backpack for school because hers was broke.I thank you for your words of wisdom Nona and I hope you have a wonderful day......luv steve

Steve Hi and great to hear from you. You are doing wonderful and like I told you your weight loss is wonderful. You should be soooooooooo proud. I am glad you are there for those kids. They must love you to death. You will find someone to love you. You deserve it. I am ready to make that move also. I decided to wait until Novemeber instead of June. I also will be giving up everything. I think I am making the right move. I will take my time. You take care and keep up your great work. to your sucess.You have a great day. Your luck with finding a good woman will be right there in front of you when you least expect it. I truly believe if its meant to be it will happen. keep up your kindness in helping those kids. I admire you keeping the friendship with the kids....sounds like you have maintained a caring relationship with them and they probably need and recognize that in you Steve. I do agree with Nona, though. Actually, if you assign them small chores to help you....that will give them a sense of purpose. Your weight loss is phenominal, of course and I congratulate you on that as well. I celebrate 28 months post op on the 15th.
