Panniculectomy?

Hi there. Just to tell you, that my surgery was Dec 2003. Before i started this journey I was 371, and am now a pretty comfortable 192. Do i have more to lose? Yeah I probably do. However, I have loose skin in places where i am sure God did not intend for people to have. My thighs, tummy, arms..just to name the big ones. I am currently waiting to be scheduled with my surgeon for a date for my incisional hernia repair. I have been reading a little here and there about people having a panninculectomy at the same time. Anyone know anything about this, where should i go? Would a surgeon do a panninculectomy at the same time as a hernia? OR would i really want a plastic surgeon messing with my insides after my weight loss surgery and doing a hernia when he/she does a panniculectomy? Have i even lost enough for a "tummy tuck"? I am a comfy size 14. I can lose more in my hips, but wow, cant afford to lose more in my breasts. Where the heck do they go anyway? Geez! Thanks for your time everyone. ANY input would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi Janice, I had my tummy done on 9/4/5. They took 9 pounds and 5 inches from the hips. My tummy hung down onto my legs, when it wasn't stuffed into a girdle. I feel wonderful. Many have it done at the same time as a hernia repair. Talk with your doctor to see if its possible. It isnt' that painful, but I understand the hernia hurts more, since muscles are involved. Remember, panniculectomy does not involve lipo, so you will be shaped funny after, having a bigger waist than hips. I went from having to wear a size 18 jean, to fit the waist and hips to a stretch 12 and regular 14. I wore that size in 12th grade. I was never tiny, always on the fat side, so I am content. Sort of. Feel free to ask me any questions concerning the tummy surgery. Nona

I am 2 years post op original weight 319 now 190. I am exactly where you are with 1 exception. I had my incisional hernia repaired in March, but the doctor said I would need to see the plastic surgeon to do the tummy tuck and any liposuction. She said he could do it at the same time but I would pay out of pocket for the plastic surgeon which was/is not approved by my insurance. It would be less expensive because the hospital, operating room and anestesiologist would all be covered by insurance. I decided not to do the tummy tuck and now regret it. Just last week I saw a plastic surgeon and was given an estimate for tummy tuck, liposuction, partial thigh removal [I have huge balls of fat there]. His fee is $5000.00 done at his office, To get my arms done it is $3500. and a different visit. Which are good prices. I hope to get the tummy tuck/lipo done in Feb. I am not going to have my breasts lifted even though they need it. I was told I would probably lose 10-15 pounds. So my advise if is to get this all done at the same time if you can afford it. Good luck!!
