Pain in hands/feet

Ok, I don't post much but I do check in every now and than to read about the great success everyone is having...my surgery was 12/1/03. I weighed 298 prior to surgery and am 175 now. Had some ups and downs, an internal hernia, a partial bowel obstruction...but overall have never regretted the surgery. But now for the past 3 weeks I am having this terrible aching and cramping in my hands, fingers, wrists, ankles, feet and elbows. Feels like I would imagine arthritis must feel like. PCP checked all my levels, Lupus, Lymes, MS, thyroid, arthritis...it all came back 100% perfect. I enjoy playing hockey with my son, we walk when the heat isn't too bad, I do abdominal work at the gym...but I don't exercise my hands or feet per se-could this be muscle atrophy or what? I am seeing a physiologist next week but am perplexed. Any ideas?

Lisa, I am 53 years old and have pains in my knees. It seems that since it is so hot in NY I think it has to do with the humidity.I have suffered bad knees all my life but now at this time of year, it seems to be bothering me.I weighed 245 lbs at the time of surgery and now I seem to be holding between 130-135lbs.The knees still hurt.I would definetly see a dr. Take care and feel better..... Lorraine

I hear a lot of folks farther out having problems with neuropathy.....but I don't think it is pain.....rather a tingly and numbing sensation! But it does effect the limbs first like that.......Have you had your B12 levels checked??? If you are low on that it can lead to nerve damage (the neuropathy) or whatever and once the damage is done...it is permanent...that is why we have to be so vigilent in taking our supplements. Wishing you some relief and answers! Good luck and take care jesi

I had some of the neuropothy issues. Excellent suggestion-- it feels like you are being stuck with thousands of needles-- I am now really careful in taking my iron suppliments (i'm anemic and take slow fe) in addition to my bi-monthly b12 shots. So far it hasn't reoccurred. Good Luck Tanya Lap RNY 12/10/03 -143lbs
