Can I ask a question?
Hi guys,
I am wondering if I am alone in this situation. I seem to get a bit scared when I don't fill up as fast as I used to. I am very aware of the thought of not getting full as fast as I did before.I think is this WLS failing?
Does this happen to you?
All your input will be great appreciated
Lorraine
I am going through the same and it scares me to death. I can't believe how much I can eat. I am trying to go on a liquid diet for two days to see if I can shrink my pouch. I was going to start yesterday, but forgot some of the bullion and teas. So today I start. I can eat a half of a chicken breast, right to the bone, 1/2 cup brown rice or half a red potato, and a half a cup of veggies. Waaayyyyy too much food. It's normal sized meals. I will never lose any weight like this. I'll bet dollars to donuts you don't eat that much at a meal, do you? Not with being as tiny as you are, Lorraine. You've done so great. I know you'll get through this, too.

I obviously worry about gaining......especially after this weekend. I saw someone I knew had the surgery about 7 years ago and he lost a tremendous amount of weight but now is as big as he ever was. Since I'm still limited on my portions, I just can't imagine how that could happen but seeing is believing.....he has gained all his weight back. I don't believe that WLS fails but certainly our self-discipline can fail. Like my good friend has said our addiction is ever with us and for the rest of our life we will have to control it like any other addict does -- support is so important to our continued success. Blessings to all............

Wow Ruthanna, that really scares me. I try really hard to eat what is right, but I want sweets. The sugar-free pudding does help that alot. I haven't lost any weight since January, and I have 50 more that I should be losing. I do have tons more energy. I can RUN up the basement steps! I exercise 5 days a week now for an hour each time and I am much more active. I should be happy, but I really wanted to be normal...normal weight for my height, even if it was the high side of it. I really like everyone here on this board. What a group of nice people. It helps having 2 grandbabies to chase around and 2 teenagers still in the house.
I can eat a lot more and I can eat sugar. I wish I couldn't. I really do pray for the people here everyday, so please keep posting about things, cuz I don't forget you.
Allison
Hi Allison, boy, you sound so busy. I don't do half the things you do. My kids are all grown and gone and the grandkids live far away. I don't exercise as often as I'd like. I"m just so pooped at the end of a work day, and if I exercise at night, then I can't sleep or get leg cramps. So I try to make it up on the weekends. What kind of exercise do you do? I have a treadmill, a Gazelle, weights and a stationary bike.
I hate being able to eat sugar. It scares me so, but I still get into it. I am trying to drink more protein shakes hoping that'll ease the cravings. I take 5-HTP, which is helping some, and helps with sleep, but I still crave the bad stuff. I guess it's the old addiction.

Sorry it took so long to answer. I still do the aerobic interval tape. It is one minute of weights, then one minute of aerobics. I used to do this exact tape when I was in my 20's. No one ever seems to believe it, but I have ALWAYS exercised, even at my heaviest. The tape was made by Sports Illustrated, it is the one with Cheryl Tieggs. I add extra leg and situps at the end.
The reason I love it so much more then other exercise is by changing every minute, it seems to go by so much more quickly then other exercises. It is not BORING. I hate boring. I never feel like exercising. I just do it, and with this tape, it always seems like I just started and it is over.
Also, the stretch at the end is wonderful. I started using 3lb weights and now use 10 (except for the shoulder ones, cuz I think women look horrible with big shoulders)

I think we all get that fear. I sometimes am amazed on what I can eat but you do need to eat to burn calories. We still eat so much less than the avg person who has a regular size tummy. Ifs not failing if you are maintaining....keep up the good work and keep postive. It can be scary when we think we could gain it all back....we are here for you!
Luv, Karie
Hi Lorraine
I know what your talking about, sometimes it seems that I can eat way too much and other times I can't eat anything at all.I have lost 283 lbs since my surgery day and over 310 in all.I am not worried but when I feel i'm eating to much I step back and think about how far i've come and sometimes go for a walk or hit the golf ball around the yard for a while.Your wls didn't fail you Lorraine, you are always a comfort and you always have something nice to say to everyone and I don't want you to worry over nothing............Hope you have a wonderful day...............steve c
