My daughter
Hi all,
Haven't been around much lately. My youngest daughter is in the hospital again. She's lost the use of her legs due to Transverse Myacitis. A side effect of SLE. She's 29, married with one son. I've been going back and forth to the hospital, which is a 5 hour round trip. So, I'm not eating right and not exercising at all. But the weight is holding, which isn't bad. At least I'm not gaining.
She started her first round of chemo, the only treatment for this condition and it made her so sick. Poor little kid. It breaks my heart to see her like that knowing I can't do anything to help, other than wipe her face and hold her hand. She goes to rehab on Wednesday. It's a whole lot closer, so it'll be easier to get to see her.
Say a prayer for her. Thanks
Nona
Hi there Nona, I am so sorry your daughter is not well. I am saying a prayer for her and will continue to keep her in my prayers. All you can do is be there for her and hold her hand. You being there is just what she needs. Concentrate on her and don't worry about your weight. You will be just fine. It is important for you to maintain now and that is what I am doing now. I tend to drop 1 or 2 pds,but I really don't care to come lower than 130 lbs. I am 5ft6 and that is thin enough.
Again, I am praying for you and good seeing you posting.
& to you and your daughter...Lorraine
Sorry to hear about your daughter. I'll keep her and your family in my prayers. Try taking protein shakes and/or protein bars with you when you are visiting or caring for her and when she is resting try walking around as much as possible. Maintaining at this time in your life is better than gaining. It must be so difficult to see your daughter, no matter the age, in pain and there is nothing you can do about it. Just being there for her is the best medicine right now. Good luck.

Well, things look a little better. Diana has a small amount of sensation in her legs when she moves from the bed to her chair. It's not alot, but it's a beginning. They are sure she won't be able to walk the mall, but she may get around in a chair just fine. She has bowel and bladder control, which is wonderful. A local radio station is going to try to get them some help in making the house wheel chair accessible. We were going to try to get her a motorized chair by asking my boss for a raise, but I got turned down. The economy. It was worth a shot. I am down 108 lbs as of today. Can't understand how I'm loosing anything, with not eating right and not exercising at all, but I'll take it.
