Hello all, I thought it might be fun to find out where we all are on the whole scheme of things. It has been a year for most of us now. How much weight have you lost and are you at goal or how much more do you want to go? Do you think your original goal was realistic? Too low, Too high? What can you do today, that you could not do a year ago? Is there anything that you miss? What did this surgery cure for you? What are you most surprised about one year out? Copy and paste these. Tracy

My reply: It has been a year for most of us now. How much weight have you lost and are you at goal or how much more do you want to go? I have lost 129 pounds (some days up to 134) and am about 8 pounds from my goal weight of 125, pre-plastics. Do you think your original goal was realistic? Too low, Too high? I THINK THAT MY ORIGINAL GOAL WEIGHT WAS TOO HIGH. 125 IS JUST TOO MUCH ON MY FRAME I THINK. I AM NOW GOING FOR 115 PRE-PLASTICS. What can you do today, that you could not do a year ago? EVERYTHING! I CAN CROSS MY AND IN FACT I AM MOST COMFORTABLE WITH MY LEGS CROSSED. I CAN GET UP OFF THE FLOOR GRACEFULLY, I CAN SHOP AND NOT DROP, I CAN WORK OUT FOR A LOT LONGER THAN I EVER THOUGH POSSIBLE, I CAN GO INTO A PLACE AND NOT FEEL LIKE THE BIGGEST THING AROUND, I CAN GET LOOKS FROM MEN, LOTS OF LOOKS! I CAN FIT WHEREVER I WANT TO GO, I CAN SIT ON ANYTHING AND NOT WORRY ABOUT BREAKING ANYTHING. I CAN HAVE A LIFE AGAIN AND I CAN BE HAPPY!!!! Is there anything that you miss? THE INSULATION!!! I'M FREEZING!!! BUT, I'LL JUST BUNDLE RATHER THAN GAIN IT BACK! ;O) What did this surgery cure for you? DIABETES...ARTHRITIS IS NOWHERE NEAR AS BAD AS IT WAS, I DON'T GET SICK ALL OF THE TIME ANYMORE! KNOCK WOOD What are you most surprised about one year out? HOW MUCH BETTER THAT I FEEL ABOUT LIFE, ABOUT ME, ABOUT EVERYTHING INCLUDING THE PHYSICAL SIDE OF IT. ALSO, HOW MUCH I CAN EAT, ALWAYS SEEMS LIKE TOO MUCH. WHAT WONDERFUL PEOPLE YOU MEET WHEN SHARING AN EXPERIENCE LIKE THIS. LOVE YOU ALL! YOUR TURN!

How much weight have you lost and are you at goal or how much more do you want to go? As of this morning, -103. No where near goal. I want to weigh about 30lbs less. Do you think your original goal was realistic? Too low, Too high? No, I think it was just right, at about 175lbs, wearing a size 12-14. But I don't think it's going to happen. What can you do today, that you could not do a year ago? Where can I start? Jog, fit into booths, wear knee high boots, shop anywhere, bend over and touch the floor without bending my knees and spliting them for my belly to fit, and best of all, sit on Joe's lap without his legs going numb. In fact, he enjoys it. A lot! Is there anything that you miss? Being warm, but I just wear extra clothes. And the occasional eclair. Wait. What am I thinking? What did this surgery cure for you? Blood pressure going up, no meds for FM or RA What are you most surprised about one year out? How much I can eat. I'm trying to keep it around 1000 calories a day, but it's hard. I get hungry. Didn't think I'd ever get hungry again, not in the same way, but I do. Nona

Hi there Tracy, It has been a year for most of us now. How much weight have you lost and are you at goal or how much more do you want to go? I have lost -113 pds I don't really want to lose more. I just would like to maintain it. Do you think your original goal was realistic? Too low, Too high? The goal of 130 lbs the Dr has set I think is too thin for someone like me. I am 5ft6. What can you do today, that you could not do a year ago? I can do it all. Just name it" I CAN DO IT" Is there anything that you miss? Yes to be honest.......'FOOD" I am sure you can relate to that also. What did this surgery cure for you? The surgery is not a cure, just a tool. It has cured my diabetes for now. If I would gain back I am sure the symtoms would come back. What are you most surprised about one year out? I am just surprised that life is so good now. Easy to do it all. Have a great day Tracy... Hi All and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to all of us either belated or to come !!! Mine is to come on 12/29 and I am very happy with the past year. How much weight have you lost and are you at goal or how much more do you want to go? I have lost 98 LBS I want to lose 21 more LBS Do you think your original goal was realistic? Too low, Too high? I think the original goal of 125 was too low for my 5'2" frame so I am shooting for 115, only 21 LBS to go. What can you do today, that you could not do a year ago? I can keep up with my son without feeling like I am gasping for air or I can see my toes too without bending over a little. Is there anything that you miss? My extra insulation but I would not take it back for anything, I just add layers of clothing now. What did this surgery cure for you? Diabetes, high blood pressure, took care of my PCOS, my metabolism, and self esteem. What are you most surprised about one year out? That I am thin!!!! I don't know about you all but when I look in the mirror sometimes, no most times I still see my large frame and then I look again and see my thin one and I have to do a double take. Or when I look at pictures from a year or so ago and look at recent ones it is a great surprise. I never really saw how people treated me different when I was overweight compared to how they treat me now, just recently I noticed that someone who never really talked to me before now goes out of there way to talk to me. This has been a real eye opener of a year!!! I would do it all agian in a heartbeat. Goodluck to all. Michelle

It has been a year for most of us now. How much weight have you lost and are you at goal or how much more do you want to go? I've lost 126, 9 more to my dr's goal, more like 15 to my own goal Do you think your original goal was realistic? Too low, Too high? Yes, it's realistic but it is taking a lot of effort to get there now! What can you do today, that you could not do a year ago? SO many things.....CROSS my legs, get in and out of the new little car we just bought, LOVE to get dressed in cute clothes, FIND cute clothes in the first place, wear jewelry confidently, ride in amusement park rides, cinch up the seat belt in planes instead of sucking in and praying it will click. Is there anything that you miss? No way.....not a thing...well, I'd like a little more boobs back but honestly, I'm OK with that too. What did this surgery cure for you? high blood pressure, high cholesterol, edema (better, not completely cured), .....and I'm sure I was headed for diabetes and/ or heart attack prior to surgery What are you most surprised about one year out? How people react.....that people call me thin and skinny (I'm really not, but they see me that way). That I LOVE clothes again after years of not caring about them....just wanting to find something to cover my bod....now I love so many things but when I see my clothes on the hanger, I still tend to believe they couldn't possibly fit me....then I put them on and they are baggie...that is sooo weird but sooo cool!
