Calories

I am 10 months post op and was wondering if anyone knows how many calories we are suppose to be eating at this point. I try to eat at least 100 gms of protein and drink at least 100 oz of water a day. I keep my carb intake under 40gm (at least I try, sometimes that is hard if you have no control over what is made as guest of someone else). But I have never been told how many calories I should be at. There are times that I am eating around 1200 calories (which is nothing compared to what I used to eat ). I love cottage cheese and I have noticed that since that is a dairy product, it does have quite a bit of calories in them. I drink 3 protein drinks a day, and they are anywhere from 130 to 170 calories, so that is 510 right there. I have been at a major plateau for the last 3 months. I was told to increase my protein intake from 64-80 to over 100 which I did, now it seems that my calories are going up, so any advice in this area would be appreciated. Thanks Chris E 354/276/???

I think I saw 1200 on some paperwork I was given at the beginning but they never say at my Dr's and I was just there for my 9 month check in a few weeks ago. I try to stay under 1500 and I don't really track my calories. I keep randomly losing a lb here and there slowly these days. Are you measuring at all??? I know the scale hasn't moved much the last 2 months BUT my jeans are getting really loose!!! They said to up protein and water to facilitate more weight loss if wanted...but I am fine with my slow steady state and hopefully won't need any tummy tuck or ps b/c of it. Sounds like you are eating healthy and not mindless calories so I wouldn't be too concerned. Do you exercise? Sometimes that can get the body motivated to burn fat! Try using INCHES instead of lbs and see if you notice any changes that way.

Thanks for the info Shannon. Yes I have been taking measurements and since August I have lost 1 1/2 inches in my waist and hip area as well as other areas as well. My abdomin area is not doing very well but that nasty skin will be gone on Dec 7 when I have my hernia repair, breast reduction and tummy tuck. So yes all my clothes are still getting baggy much to my relief, and of course none of them will probably fit at all after my surgery. I was just hoping to lose some more weight before surgery. Yes I know I am having the tummy tuck a little early, but I have quite the apron at the moment making my back hurt and walking can be bothersome at times and my insurance here at work has just announced that they will not be paying for any plastic surgery for people who have had gastric bypass surgery beginning Jan.1. So I have decided to get what I can removed now, and hopefully the rest will take care of itself later. I don't want to wait and then I won't be able to get the money to have any of it removed later. As far as my weight is concerned, I would probably be much better off if I could just stay away from the scale, but every week it pulls me like a magnet. It doesn't help that they have a scale right in front of me at the YMCA where I work out. Yes, I exercise by swmming and weights 3 times a week, and I try to get a walk in everyday, depending on the weather here in Nebraska. Thanks again for the support chris
