Question of the day!!!
I am stealing this from the Iowa boards....hehehe Don't tell em' LOL! We are all on here visiting and getting to know eachother, supporting eachother thru this journey........Tell me about your support people at home.....Kinda getting to know your friends deal. I will start! I am married and my hubbys name is Jason, he has been very supportive! I have three daughters....twins who are 5 and a 3 year old.....they are too very supportive in their kid like ways.....I will ask my daughter for a bite of her pizza and she tells me "no mommy~memeber you had your surgery" Sometimes I wish they weren't so smart! Also I am very close to my parents, and they are very supportive. I don't have tons of friends, more friends thru the girls ......more mommy group friends but we don't hang out without the kids......So besides my family, my main support is the boards and friendships made thru here. Lets here about you guys! Have a great day Jesi
Jesi, You have posted a great question.
Tell me about your support people at home.
I have alot of support from my best friend, Brenda. WE have been friends for 30 years. She thinks that I am too thin now and has named me "Olive Oil" We went to WallMart and she was screaming that name when she was looking for me. I love her dearly and know her intentions are good.
As I once posted on the board my daughter had RNY in 2000. She never reached goal. She was 350 lbs and got down to 230 lbs and stopped. This is a touchy subject with her. She does not talk too much about my weight loss with me. She does think also I am too thin.
It's great you have a hubby. I really needed that support through this whole thing, but I am alone. My sister was a great support to me. She also had banding done and has only lost 30 pds in one year. She also thinks that this hernia surgery had something to do with my WLS. She believes that there are too many complications from this surgery. You really can't change how people feel.
I work in a hospital and there are many jealous people. Some don't say a word. They just stare.....What can I say? ON with my journey...
Good question girl Take care..... Lorraine
Hi Jesi,
Good question ...
My main support system is this board, I dont post all that often but just reading about similar struggles or achievments keeps me "in touch".
I also have a friend at work who had the surgery in June and we bounce a lot off each other. I dont attend the group meetings offered by my surgeon mostly because the times are inconvenient.
My husband is proud of me, but is a man of few words , so I dont get all that much input from him. My family and friends are constantly telling me "how great I look" and that is their way of supporting..

Jesi - Your daughter is sweet!
The only people that know of my surgery are my parents and one of my sisters. None of them live near me (sister is in NC and parents are in CA) so I don't see them very often. I saw my parents in Sept and they were very excited about my weight loss and were very complimenting. My sister is supportive but I don't see her very often. I live alone with my 5-year old daughter. She has been my biggest support. She walks with me a lot and goes to the gym with me on the weekends and holidays. She compliments me all the time and get this, the other day she said to me "Mommy I think you got more skinny this week!" My office staff and people in the building compliment me all the time too on my weight loss so I take that as support! Other than that I just have whatever support I get here. It's nice to be congratulated every once in a while.
Take care.
HI Jesi,
I have my Joe. He's now very supportive and watchful. He reminds me to eat my meat first, not my veggies and hids his goodies. Not that I'd eat them, due to the sugar, but he thinks he's helping. He says he thinks I look find the way I am, that I was fine before, but he agrees that I am now healthier.
