Help, I stopped losing!!!!!!
I have been on a plateau for almost two months now. I am 9 months out and have only lost 5-7 pounds in the past 2 months. I have lost a total of 85 pounds but other people that had surgery the same month as me has lost over 100. Does anyone have any suggestions as to waht I can do or what may be wrong. I excercise, watch what I eat for the most part, and have increased my protein. I was thinking that maybe I am not eating enough calories for the amount of calories I burn excercising, could that affect my loss? I am thankful for any thoughts that you all may have.

Hi Joan, I'm in the same boat, however, I haven't lost anything for nearly three months. I guess many of us are hitting a plateau at this point. I eat around 1200 a day and exercise 4 days a week, sometimes 5 or 6 by power walking on my treadmill, ( I did jog, but hurt my hip and can't any more), and some strenth training with weights three times a week. I don't eat a lot of carbs, and the ones I do are whole grain. There isn't much else we can do, so I guess just keep doing what we're doing and hope for the best. As far as how much you've lost, it depends on how much you had to loose. The more to loose, the more you loose. I was 299 to start at 5'5" at age 52. You?

I have been losing very slowly myself and I have lost only 85# also! I have a LOT more weight to lose...80 more =( and it is getting difficult to believe that I am able to get there. I exercise EVERY day for 45 to 60 minutes. I either do the 2 mile walk away the pounds and add floor work and weights after, or aerobic interval training which is 50 minutes, or I walk on a tow path near our house for 3 miles. My calorie intake is between 650 and 900. The highest has been 1095. My protein intake is always over 100. I am only 5' tall and I am 49 years old. I also am very busy during the day watching my grand-daugther, who is only 7.5 months old. I am not in normal sized clothes. Don't get me wrong, I am HAPPY with the loss. I was having a lot of trouble getting up stairs before and I could not walk fast before either, though I have always exercised. I have 4 very supportive daughters.
If I could think of anything else to do, I would do it. The last few days I have tried to eat a little bit more...jic I am in starvation mode.
And as for comparing...it is SOOOOOO hard not to!
I haven't measured my water in a long time. I used to. I drink a lot so maybe I should measure and make sure that isn't a problem, but when I did, I didn't lose more either.

Hi Joan, yep you got it! Comparing doesn't work. I've lost 90 pounds but haven't lost in almost 3 months. That's why I'm going back to my surgeon on Tuesday and say "hey, what's UP?". I figure he's the expert and can tell me what I need to do next. If you are concerned you should do the same. Just my two cents. Have a great day!

WOW,
I thought I was alone on this island of PLATEAU! I haven't lost a single pound in over 6 weeks and in fact gained 6 pounds. I am exercising and don't cheat but I had stopped! Then this week the 6 pounds that I gained have come back off. I think my body has jumped into starvation mode. Give it time. 6 weeks is a long time to go without losing weight and is so frustrating. I know I shouldn't but I weigh everday. That's just me. I had my surgery 12/17/03 and have lost 98 ponds. I see all these folks just dropping it and I get jealous. I saw a friend who had this surgery in April 04 and she has lost over 150 pounds and I felt like a failure. But, HELLO! I AM NOT A FAILURE! I HAVE LOST 98 POUNDS IN LESS THAN TEN MONTHS! WooooHooooo! FOR ME! And WoooooHOOOOO! For you GIRL! WE Are NOT AS Big or as slow as we were this time last year! We are GREAT!
I've been complaining about this for months. I'm at about a 4 months plateau. I had 260lbs to lose when I started and still have 160lbs to go at 10 months out. I stopped coming to the boards as often because it's EXTREMELY discouraging seeing people who only had a 100lbs to lose saying they're at goal in the same amount of time that I've been struggling. Yes, they say you shouldn't compare yourself to others but you're so eager to get the weight off and gauge how you're doing in your journey. It's the only real means you have of seeing if you're progressing.
I'm still waiting for the "rapid weight loss". Yeah, 100lbs in 6months is fast however it's still NOT what I expected. I got rid of my size 30/32 summer clothes and went shopping once during the summer and only bought 6 pieces in 26/28. Well, I don't have any fall or winter clothes in the 26/28 size and I absolutely REFUSE to purchase any. I ordered some clothes last night and I ordered the 22/24. I'll just have to work harder to get into them comfortablly dang it. I refuse to purchase ANY 26/28.
