Still stuck

Another month has gone by and I'm still around 197. My size isn't getting smaller either. I've been a 16 with some 14's for two months now. My food is about 1200 a day. I am probably eating too much, but I don't eat until I"m full and I eat very few carbs and those are either whole wheat, like Triscuits, or fruit/veggies. I still have protein drinks, especially if I eat a lot of veggies and go low on the meat. I post on FitDay.com to keep track of my eating and get plenty to drink. I can't jog anymore due to injuring my hip and knee. Doctors orders. Walking only. I bought a weight set for strength training and do that three times a week. I walk almost every day for an hour. I Just can't seem to move the scale. I feel so down, like I"m failing my surgery. Everyone else is still loosing, even if it is just a pound or two a month. I just feel like I've failed. My goal was 180. I'm 19lbs from it and nearly 10 months out. Sorry for venting, but I just feel at such a loss. Nona

I know the feeling. My scales have not moved in about 2 - 2 1/2 months. I can't seem to get past 148. I think that I am eating to much but like you I stop when I am full not stuffed. I am walking some (as much as I can). It seems like I don't have a free moment except on Tuesdays and Thursday when my youngest child goes to mother's day out. I walk on those days atleast 2 miles. My husband works 10 hour days and with 3 kids it is hard to find the time. Anyway...I can feel ya!! Good luck to us! Rhonda

Hi Nona and Rhonda, I can certainly understand where you all are coming from. I am fighting the same few pounds since JUNE! It goes down and then it goes back up. I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere. I drink all my fluids, get in my protein. I even got weepy with my surgeon on the last visit. He said that it is not uncommon and that he would let me know when it was time to worry. I had to have a hernia repair about 3 weeks ago so I wasn't allowed to exercise and then with this foot of mine acting up exercise has been almost impossible. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that you all are not alone! I'm right there with ya! Jill

I'm sorry to hear that you are down Nona. Have you tried swimming or water aerobics? Great exercise and it may be okay to do with an injured hip and knee? Your body is just taking a break. I've seen quite a few people stall out for a few months and then the weight starts coming off again. I hope the same happens to you and soon. Hang in there. PS. When your hip and knees improve, please try the elliptical machine at a gym. I swear this has helped me so much. I shaved 2 more inches from my hips and another inch from my thighs in 2.5 weeks and lost another 2 pounds since Saturday (I'm now at 187.5) (worked out Saturday and Sunday, a lot!). I really owe it all to the elliptical machine.

I love swimming, but the only place to swim where I live is the creek and it's a bit too cold for that now. The same with a gym. None in my area that are open when I get out of work. They close at 5 and I don't get out until 5:30. I use my treadmill and my weights and walk when the weather is good outside. But swimming, as much as I love it, isn't possible. Thanks for the words of encouragement from y'all. It does help to know I"m not alone in this stall. Maybe someday it'll move again. I hope.

Years ago, I used to do this aerobic interval training with Cheryl Tieggs video. It is one minute with weights, and one minute aerobic, then weights, back and forth. You take your pulse every so often and believe me, mine and my 15 year old daughters are up. It works every area of the body, except the inner thighs. It is low impact. I re-ordered the tape for ONE DOLLAR used on amazon.com. I think it was $3 total with shipping and handling. (It has sit-ups at the end, and the stretch feels soooooo good!) At first, it seems hard. It is 50 minutes long, but because it changes exercises every minute, it goes by really fast. It says you can use a box or jump rope to make it harder... I don't use them, it has 2 people NOT using them, 2 that do. I only mention this because it seems fun to me now, and I feel like I am in better shape. My weight is barely moving either, and I have not lost anywhere near where you have, but I refuse to give up! I always think to myself that I eat so healthy now that it must be doing something for me, even if it isn't showing in my weight loss. I was thinking that maybe I needed to eat more very small meals and spread out every 3 hours or something. Maybe I don't eat enough. I never forget about the people on these boards and what they have said. I pray for you all every night and during the day when I think of you. Allison

Do you remember the name of it? I'll give it a look into and see if I can find it. I do Richard Simmons a lot, but the bouncing hurts my hip. Maybe hers would be better, as long as I don't have to get onto the floor. Nona

Hey Nona. I just came back from exercising and was thinking about you. Have you thought about Curves or a workout place similar to Curves? They are usually open a little later than 5:30pm and on Saturdays as well. The machines are very low impact and it might really help, especially to kick start the inches. Also, back to the swimming, are there any high profile exercise places in your area that may have a gym - like the Y, LA Fitness, Bally's? Just another thought. I know you've probably thought of these already but I really want to help.

Yep, there's a Curvers about 35 miles from my home, but by the time I get out of work, get home to feed the animals and let the dog out, and could get back there, they're closed. No pools anywhere where I live. I live extremely rural. Curves closes at 6 in my area. Thanks, though, for the ideas. Nona

Nona, We're riding the same boat ! I too have been stuck for awhile.. I never had let myself get too freaked out by the numbers on the scale but I have only lost 4 lbs in almost 2 months! I remembered telling people though, when I weighed in at 190 (I'm now at 174) that I'd be perfectly happy if I never lsot another lb. I just NEVER want to weigh 272 ever, ever again. My personal goal is 145 lbs , my surgeons goal is 170, so I'm pretty close to Dr A's calculations, but I'm wondering if I'll even make that now ! errrr.. I do admit that I havent been very careful about what I'm eating, and need to nip this food monster in the bud. Good luck to you Nona and please Wish me luck too !
