Sick of living in Florida!

Hello all, Well, if you have watched the news, you know that yet ANOTHER hurricane is headed my way! So, instead of the nice weekend I had planned having a long awaited garage sale, looks like it will be washed out and instead I will spend it at my mothers house because looks like I will again be evacuated. If this stays on the wonderful track that it is on now, tomorrow will be spent packing up again to evacuate. I hear from so many that are so jealous to live in Florida. Lets hear the down side... No season change. No real winter. No snow...EVER. Summers that last for about 9 to 10 months out of the year. No break from the heat. Humidity in the 80% range and UP. Flat, Flat, Flat...nothing to see, like mountains. Daily torrential rains. HUGE lightning storms, about daily. Constant traffic, not helped by all those lucky northerners coming to stay for the winter many deciding to move here. Oh, did I forget to mention the HURRICANES? But on the up side, We do have beaches. Just better not live near one or the HURRICANES will take your house! Which isn't easy considering everything here is close to a beach. We didn't have enough from Hurricane Charley, now we have to have Hurricane Frances headed our way! Can you tell I am unhappy? Not a good day for me...again. Well, wish us luck with this storm...If you want me you can find me hiding under this chair! Sorry for the bummer. Tracy

Hi Tracy You can always move to California. We would love to have you come and live in our great state. Our ground shakes every once and a while, but not to worry. Yes we have beaches also. P.S. come to the October event and check us out. Darrol 450/290/?

I sure can understand how these hurricanes are bumming you out Tracy, but you're just going to have to batten down the hatches and remember all the wonderful things you love about living in Florida... I get so homesick sometimes that I would give anything to move back.. I miss: Lithia Springs Hillsborough River State Park Bradenton Beach Ybor City Harbour Island The Gasparillo Festival The Strawberry Festival The Florida State Fair Mug Boggin!! And all of this is just in the Tampa area!! Hang in there girl.. Be safe and "batten down the hatches" **There is no other place like home.. there's no place like home...**

My brother lives in Tarpon Springs. He moved down there and he LOVES it. I miss him a lot, but he is so happy there. Are you from Flordia originally? I will pray for you, and hope that today turns out to be special and good for you. Allison

Be safe! I will be praying for everyone in Florida.....you guys need a break! You welcome to come to Iowa.....lol Though I am pretty sure if you think Florida is flat and boring.....You would be WAY bored here....lol! I know humidity, we often are in the 80-90's with 90-100% humidity......but ours only last three months....we have a beautiful fall...a harsh winter.....and wet springs......I guess it is the one thing I like about Iowa, we actually get to enjoy ALL of the seasons!!! Take Care and keep safe!!! Jesi

Hello to all, Thanks for everyones nice offers to move. I tell you right now I'd be willing to trade with any of you! Just sick of all of the bad weather. Darrol, I have lived in California. I lived in Riverside and also 29 Palms back in the early 70's. I liked California but my favorite places that I lived were Hawaii, But I don't really want that tropical again, and New Jersey. I would move up to the New England states in a heartbeat if given the chance, I love it up there! Iowa, I think has a little too much wide open spaces for me. I need to be close, like within 10 minutes of lots of shopping or I'd go stir-crazy! I need variety. I love the season change and the snow and the cold weather!!! A summer that wasn't above 100° and 90% humidity would be nice too! Again, thanks for all who posted. My county MIGHT be OK although they are still suggesting that we get out and all of the schools are closed. Nothing manditory yet. Fingers are crossed that we don't get much from it. I'd like to be able to stay home this time. Wish us luck! Tracy

Tracy, I am praying that all you Floridians are safe and dry. You could always move to Louisiana, but I'm trying to get out myself. Not many beaches, except on the Gulf, but we have great food! I feel so sorry for all you guys. this is too much too soon and too close together. Just hang on and get out if you need to. We're all praying that it takes a turn the other way. God Bless~ Staci
