Frustrated
I am feeling so down today. I have gained 4 and a half pounds this week. I don't know why. Maybe it's the increased protein? I've added a shake because I wasn't feeling well. I upped my vitamins and fruit. Maybe that did it. It's in my tummy area, because my skirt is tight today. I not only haven't lost during the month of August, but now this gain. Some words of encouragement would be so nice to hear. Please.

I think we are all having these frustrating times now as the weight loss has slowed considerably for most if not all of us. I don't think that upping your protein is ever a bad thing as long as you are getting within the recommended 50-60 grams per day and the source is a nice low fat kind. Upping vitamins also should not be a problem. Fruit, depending on variety can be fairly high in carbs. I believe that we all need it, however. Check the source of your fruit, is it a high carb fruit? If so you might want to change varieties. I usually get away with watermelon pretty well. Bananas only once or twice a week though, just for the potassium. If you get too many carbs (over 30-50 grams per day), which is VERY easy to do, your body will burn those carbs for energy instead of the fat that we all want burned. Also, too many carbs (usually even on the low side of the scale) will make you crave more food and cause you to snack more than you would without them. If you have not yet, I HIGHLY recommend www.fitday.com to track your food consumption. It automatically adds up your carbs, calories, protein and such for the day and give you a great idea of where you are going wrong, if you are. It REALLY helped me! Try that for at least a few weeks and see if it doesn't help you learn what foods are best for you.
Here is what my nutritionist recommends for us in order to continue weight loss....
500-750 calories per day
20-30 grams of Fat per day
50-60 grams of Protein per day
30-50 grams of carbs per day
and at least 64 ounces of fluids, Are you getting your fluids in? That can slow down your weight loss considerably too. Just try to get back to the basics. Don't worry about yesterday or last month, just start fresh today! No worries, this is a DO OVER! You'll will get to goal!!!

Nona...Don't be discourage this is all normal. I was not losing then all of a sudden BAM I started losing. Then I get on the scales the next week and 2 pounds are back...YIKES. It is so normal for our bodys to go up and down a few pounds just keep the faith and you will be on track!

I'm right here with ya' Nona. I have not weighed myself in over a week, I was getting way to depressed about the lack of loss and the two pounds down 3 pounds up syndrome. Seems I've been stuck between 222-225 lbs. forever. I don't have the answers to this mystery....but for all of us here, we should ALL be proud of our success so far huh?
Try to stay positive and I will try to take my own advise too, lol.

Nona, Hi there sweetie! I think this will be a constant battle. Now that we are near our "Goals" we will now have to deal with maintaining as most normal people do. We never concentrated on this. We just ate and gained, gained, gained, and never paid attention,We now have a new struggle in our lives, which I know I will try to defeat. "MAINTAINING"

Nona, I have cleaned out most of the carbs out of the house. I have bought those small bags of pretzel sticks so I don't consume the whole bag. I also bought small bags of animal crackers so if I eat them, they are proportioned. I also bought "BODY TECH" WHEY PROTEIN "VANILLA FLAVORED PROTEIN POWDER" The drink is great. It is made with Splender and tastes great . !00 calories. 17 grms protein. I mix it with water. It is not thick, It is a bit thicker than Crystal Light and I love it . I bought it at the Vitamin shoppe.
I am a very constipated person and now started drinking prune juice in the morning and have started eating soy nuts. They are full of protein and now have all the pipes running well . Now I see a weight loss coming. Keep up the good work. Try that drink you will love it ...Lorraine
I don't think upping the protein is a problem at all. I use the Roadside Lemonade and I cannot drink ANY protein without adding some other flavor. Sometimes I add a fruit, but usually I add different flavors of crystal light. If I don't add something, I don't like them. Roadside lemonade is 90 calories and 23 gms of protein. I drink 2 a day and it really keeps me from feeling hungry. Do you eat lots of small meals? Eating makes your metabolism go up. Eating the small meals every so often might keep you from feeling light headed. Recently, I got a free order of protein chips with my nectar. I liked them. They were nacho cheese and they have 4 other flavors that I have ordered samples of but have not tried yet. They are from Kaysnaturals.com. under the gastric bypass products. 110 calories for 30 chips and 10 gms protein!
I myself burst into tears yesterday because I have not lost one pound and I have so much more to lose. I use fitday. I can't think of anything to change, though my water intake has declined... I have to really push myself to drink enough.
Why don't we both try to force the water in and see if we do better with weight loss for 2 weeks? We can suffer together! If you do it, I will!

Hi Nona, I'm right there with ya. I've been gaining and losing the same few pounds since JUNE! What's a girl to do. I've tried everything with no results. In the past I would have just given up and started eating the way "I wanted to". But not this time! We can get through this. Just stay strong!
