How much should we be getting per day at this point, in grams? I think I may not be getting enough by the way I am feeling. Nona -105

Well Nona, My doctor didn't want to give us a number b/c he didn't want us to get "addicted" to having to eat bars and drink drinks forever. I do drink a protein shake at least every other day. He did suggest we get at least 60g a day. To be honest, I can't get 60g w/out drinking a shake! I am not even sure I had 60g of protein before surgery. I hope you feel better! ~Rachel

Hi Nona, My doctor recommends between 50-60 grams. I too have a hard time getting it all in without some kind of suppliment. 10 grams here and 10 grams there takes lots of meals to add up to 60 gramsof protein so I still suppliment! Check your vitamins if you are changing in the way you are feelling. Have you changed brands recently? I know I switched from GNC capsule to a tablet Carb Control One a day and have not felt as good since, I'll switch back as soon as this bottle is gone. Also, check your iron and calcium, lack of them can make you feel crappy too. Have you had your levels checked lately? Tracy

Hi, Nona! My doc says 60-80 grams, and I have to supplement to get there. But, since I actually like a couple of the nectar flavors, that isn't an issue for me. It's just something other than water that I get to drink. LOL. Deb

I'm supposed to get 70 grams because my numbers weren't high enough when they did my blood work at 6 months. I almost never drink shakes. It really isn't hard to get it in by eating. I just make sure I eat foods high in protein before I eat anything else and only snack on high protein foods- jerky, milk, yogurt, cheese, etc. Dixie

I drink 2 protein shakes a day. My doctor and nutritionist said it was okay. I drink the nectar too and I like it because it really helps me to not feel hungry and I am getting more fluids. I don't know why it is bad to drink them your whole life, unless they feel that you will get sick of them and eat bad things in their place. I usually get 70gms a day. I have been using vista vitamins. So far, so good. Allison
