Hi, My dad had his surgery on Friday. We where there at 5:30 am he was excited and happy. Well his surgery went over and the doctor said that he had some complications. What he said was that his colon was in the wrong area and they had to move it then remove his apendix (I am not a speller) He seemed to be doing well. I was a little scared I mean I am the one that encouraged him and I feel bad I did not want anything to go wrong. I am aware of the complications and risk. It still does not make me feel better that this happen. Anyway, Friday was good he was uncomfortable and out of it. Well Saturday I came back and he said he was in pain and having burning pain I finally got him up to walk and he was doing well you know the normal stuff (with this surgery) He was getting chills and shivering he could not tell me if it was from pain or cold. That went away and he kept telling me he felt a burning sensation. I dont know I was worried. So today he was excited he was walking ran a slight fever overnight and his pressure went up a bit. Well he thought he was going home and the Surgeons Partner came in and said he had to stay another night because of the complications that his organs were flipped and since they had to move things around they want to make sure he does not have a leak etc... I was not there when the surgeon talked to him. I am just worried and wondered if this has happen to anyone before. Thank you for any help.. He seems to be well besides his Butt hurting from sitting and is depressed that he is not comming home today. Oh yeah and so uncomfortable.

I am sorry to hear that your Dad has had complications. I will keep him and you in my thoughts and prayers I don't have any advice on complications, but it is good that his DR wants to keep him in the hospital so he can be watched and get immediate care should something be wrong. Please keep us updated and let us know how your dad is doing. Kimberly

I will pray too. I felt horrible right after surgery. I don't really remember how it felt, only that I didn't like it. I think it is good that he is staying too and that the doctor is keeping a close eye on him. It doesn't sound like they think anything is wrong, just that they are being careful. Did they test for a leak? My doctor does the next day...I HATED IT, but it made me feel safer.
