Man, is seems I just can't win with this constipation thing. I was recommended by a nurse to use Fiber Choice. Big mistake. I got so bound up even MOM took two days to work. Now I hurt in my side and back where it was so impacted I'm popping Tylenol like candy. My PCP is going to test me for IBS, but I hope it's negative because that med is dangerous, especially for posties. I've also had it suggested to try upping calcium and magnesium. Anyone heard of that one? Until then, it's MOM during the week and Smooth Move on the weekends, I guess. Any ideas from anyone? Nona I need to go home and soak in the then go to

How much roughage is in your diet??? Are you eating plenty of veggies? What about soy nuts, sunflower seeds? A lot of folks on the main board, myself including eat flax seed, I eat it on toast or in my yogurt...It takes a good week or two to really get things going, but it is an excellent fiber choice. The one and only thing that keeps me regualr is coffee. I drink it every morning and I go every morning shortly after my coffee. I get regular coffe decaf doesn't cut it!!! I use fat free low carb vanilla coffee creamer, and it is a nice treat.....I wish you luck.....Take Care Jesi

I was constipated all the time until I started eating flaxseed every day. I just drink it in my protein now, but I have had it in raisin bran. I remember reading that you tried it already so it is probably no help to hear it again. The fiber pills and drinks didn't work for me either. Before flax, only MoM worked. I will pray for you. I remember the horrible pain I had from constipation after surgery. I thought I would need surgery again, and I too was sore for days afterward.

HI Jesi, Maybe not enough. I eat veggies with lunch and dinner, usually a salad at supper, Romain lettuce as Iceburg doesn't go down well. I'm afraid of the seeds as I have diverticulitus. I drink coffee, decaff, on and off all day. I can't have caffine. Thanks for the thoughts Nona

I dont really know what help or suggestions to give, cause if I had them I would use them. It is very hard to deal with and I sometimes feel like Im about to have an anxiety attack because it stresses me out so bad thinking about what I am going to have to go through when it is time to go to the bathroom. I have given into stimulant laxatives at times just to get some relief, but I know they can be dangerous for us post op. If anything works well for you please let me know.... and (((HUGS))) for you. I understand how horrible it is.... Shawna

Nona Sorry that I don't have any other suggestions for you, but wanted you to know that I hope you find relief soon. I went through this for a few months and I know how awful it was.~Kimberly
